Well, as it turns out, they get pretty pissed when you don't respond to jury duty. I work 3rd shift and I assumed it would not matter if I didn't respond to the letters. It's not a crime to ignore your mail is it. Well, apparently it is. They've issued this paper saying I'll be arrested if I don't go on the 27th to a hearing. Anyone who has experiance feel free to clue me in to how this works. Apparently they've only begun to play things this hard recently, as no one has been able to inform me from the phone calls I've made.
I reviewed some stuff online. The mass. stuff gives specific people's exemptions, while NH says "extreme inconvenience." I'm not sure what "extreme inconvenience" is exactly, but staying up till 3AM seems to fit the bill for me. That is basically what staying up for a trial is to someone who works 3rd shift. Also, if one's religion does not allow for passing judgement on people, how does that work?

Someone find Smmenen, Demonic Attorney, or Ric Flair for those legal questions.
Last year, I got a letter for jury duty scheduled for when I was still going to be down here in Indiana. It is very difficult to serve jury duty in Michigan when you are 400 miles away (it's not a commute I'd be making). I sent in the form claiming exemption with a copy of my latest grades and course schedule, and I never heard back from them again. I didn't get an arrest notice or read about a bounty being put on my head afterwards, so I guess it worked out ok.

I've been able to get out of jury duty before, but it was because of school the first time and extreme inconvience the second. The reason that I got away with extreme inconvience is because there is no public transportation anywhere near the courthouse and I don't drive.

Jury duty sounds fun, I wish I could do it now and then not have to do it sometime when I have a job.

I actually just had jury duty last tuesday, and it was a ton of fun. It was great seeing the whole legal process in action, but having someones future in your hands is a huge responsibility and hella stressful.

Tell them that you think marijuana should be legalized or that you do not beleive in the death penalty. The former should have no trouble getting you off.

He doesn't need to get out of jury duty, he needs to explain why he just didn't show up.

Tell them that you think marijuana should be legalized or that you do not beleive in the death penalty. How exactly would one go about adding information like that casually to one's explanation? "Oh, and by the way: I'm a pot smoking anarchist arms dealer." That would harly be believable if you're obviously just trying to get out of it, methinks.
