Last Saturday Roland Chang made it to his second Power 9 Top 8 appearance without losing a single game in the Swiss. How did he do it? Details are inside.

He did it by playing well with an excellent deckllist.  I am partial to the traditional Stax list myself of course (note that his maindeck is 2 cards off my Top 8 build from SCG Richmond).  I still don't understand the decision to run 3 Sphere and 4 Wire though.  I went with 4 Sphere and 3 Wire.  Turn 1 Sphere > Turn 1 Wire.

Nicely done Roland.  Long live Goblin Welder!

Thanks thorme!

Will you make an appearance at the upcoming GenCon?  I'd really like to meet some more mana drainer's this time around.

Alas, I'm out of vacation time for the year, so I will not be able to make Gencon.  Sad   I really wanted to try to make Top 8 for the 3rd year in a row at Champs - but hopefully Kevin Cron will Top 8 again!

Dude, you suck David, how could you waste all of your vacation time before Gen Con.

I have to agree, Roland's list is pretty much what I would play. I don't know why David is still playing Memory Jar. Thanks for writing a report Roland, I found it very informative, and congratulations.

Some of us West Coast people will be making the trip to Gen Con, hopefully some members of the so called Short Bus will attend.
