lol mongrel...and force, that's not the craziest way to aquire hotness....back in 97, about a year after i had sold all of my orginal cards....my then girl friend dragged me to a yard sale...where i bought a binder being sold by a little old lady...which had a full set of unlimited power, and a spare jet and time walk (both also unlimited) at least 6 of each dual and a bunch of other junk...for 5 bucks.

Yes i was stupid...i sold all of it less then a year later to buy a car...cause i couldn't find anyone around to play magic against...so now i'm having to reaquire it....slowly...but surely......but trust me.....i hit every yard sale in sight now

That was the most amazing rip off I've ever heard about. The difference is... that it wasn't one.

$1.50 for mana drain, chains, and underworld dreams isn't a rip?  Wow.  We should get together and I can buy your stuff...

I think his point is that any time you buy cards from a store, you can't be ripping them off, because they're a store.

I agree.
I don't think you really can rip off anything from a store (Unless your stealing it of course).
Generally a store's price is overpriced by a lot. (For instance, Black Lotus' ~1500 canadian in a store OUCH).

So props to anyone that gets a good deal from a store, and dam I'm jealous! Smile

Every yard sale I see, I visit, hoping to find a deal like that.

The closest I ever came was a second-hand rubbish market in a backwater town in Poland, where I found a binder with magic cards. My heart stopped. In the binder were three or four copies of the Portal booster Wizards used to give away for free at conventions for instruction purposes. The cards were beat to shit, as was the binder. The guy asked 20 euros for the whole thing. Riiiiight.

Why does stuff like this never happen to me?

I suppose European sellers aren't dumb enough to not check the internet for price guidance ^^

As an American, I should be offended by that, except the possibility still exists for deals like the one above  Razz

I will break into your house while you aren't home and disguise myself as a chair. Then I will leave before you get home, but there will be a place at your table where I was a chair and you will wonder why there isn't a chair there. Then later I will leave the chair disguise on your doorstep and you will realize what has happened and you will be afraid all the time. Helter Skelter mother fuckers!

As the ^^ indicate, I'm actually quite disappointed by it myself.

I had a very similar experience at a yard sale about a year ago, I asked the seller if she had any cards, she told me to hang on a sec because her son was away at school and she thought he had a box of baseball cards in the garage, so I'm thinking "great waterdamaged goodness"  she brings out this 700 count card box, I open it and find a bunch of random jank magic cards until i get to the back of the box that has a what looked like somebody opened a few unlimited packs and threw them into the box... I told the lady I'd give her $20 for the box and she agreed.... I just got away with a $20 saphire in remarkable condition... needless to say the type 1 guys at my local shop thought it was amazing....

Technically that would be a rip off by the guidelines set above becasue you set the price. However it was in here garage so she actually made $20.00 more off it then should would have befor. If her some comes back and got into competitive magic while school hes gonna be one pissed dude if he remembers he had a sapphire though.
