Hey, what's so weird with my gifts build ? It's basically Andy's Gencon list without white and a tenrils kill. Congrats on the finish ;D. Too bad we only had 17 people playing. It was a lot of fun, and not that easy cause most of the best players where there.

No room in the house exceeds a length of twenty-five feet, let alone fifty feet, let alone fifty-six and a half feet, and yet Chad and Daisy's voices are echoing, each call responding with an entirely separate answer. In the living room, Navidson discovers the echoes emanating from a dark, doorless hallway which has appeared out of nowhere in the west wall.

Yeah, I think it's weird that your list was even called weird  Shortbus gifts is a lot different than meandeck gifts.

I am not gonna write a report as mine would be very short.
I won of Hero in the quarter final due to a counting mistake on his account in the second game after winning the first. The third game i just had a very good draw and i could easily crush him.
In the semi i had to play Bram, so the second teammember i had to play in the top 8. I would rather have played him in the final as i would have rather played Hero in the final. But we had to do it.
Against Bram i knew i would be close but it could be done. The first game i outdrew him and just won by playing a desire of 10 and there was a tendrils in there somewhere. After boarding perhaps i could have kept playing pure combo and perhaps i should have kept my forces in there. But i was unlucky not to be able to play my oath turn 1 the third game. I could have done it game 2 but he played a sphere turn 1 and i never recovered from that. The third game could have been mine but Bram mulled to 6 and kept a hand with 3 wastes, 2 moxes and had a sphere down turn 1. I managed to get my colossus in by tinker after he had played a seal of cleansing pretty much shutting my oath win down. He then played a smokestack and managed to get rid of my final permanent (wasted my last land) and i had to sac my DSC to the smokestack. So well don't to Bram as it was looking good for me at the time.
Getting into top 8 was not really hard really crushing slaver and some critterdeck. After that i could id into top 8 as it was only 4 rounds and 2 0 1 probably already would do the trick and i could do with some rest.
Cudos to Bram for winning the tournament and another (not so proud of this one) top 8 with my TPoath. I am getting more and more content with this build as it is proving to be very stable as a deck. I am still working on what the best sideboarding way is but i keep trying to find the good configuration after boarding against what deck. Some decks are very easy to board against but some decks are really hard. The sideboard is working out great but i am still looking for ever better critters with more crummy sideeffects as the look on peoples faces when i oath up some bigone they did not expect turning the tables completely.
Recoup was plain bad. Never used it and so it has to give way to something else.
I was really content with meditate as it is a great drawer when going combo, and it pitches to FoW. Next to that it is an must counter for control at end of turn or they probably would not survive the next turn i would get.

My play-of-the-day was a completely skill-less win in the third game vs. Lennart's Gifts. I had lost the second game, so I chose to start. I drew a seven card hand with no turn one lock components. I was hoping for a Sphere of R at least, or maybe a Trinisphere, but I got a slow hand so mulliganed to six. I played Workshop, Mox Jet, Mana Vault, Jester's Cap (which I'd only sided in for the third game), and waited for him fo FoW. He didn't. I activated, and ripped DSC, Burning Wish and Will (or something). He scooped. I kinda felt bad for him, but good at the same time Sadly, since there were only 17 players, I 'only' won a minty english The Abyss. Still nice, though. Oh, and I hear that starting next month, Eindhoven will be a sactioned event again. Yay! Down with proxies. Attendance has only decreased since we did that. My guess is that some 15 out of 17 players were fully powered regardless.

the low turn out probably had something to do with the ravnica prerelease some 2 miles away from this vintage tournament.
But perhaps it will work as there now are points to be earned again.

Well, I'm happy about it. My rating sucks and my T8 results at Eindhoven don't help out.

I absolutely agree. This would have been awesome for my rating, and for some inexplicable reason, it does matter to me.

I kinda felt bad for him, but good at the same time I played jester's cap on him second game (I lost the first one) I got in on the board turn 1 and activated it next turn I had. Freitag had a win in his hands though and was able to use it to win again. After this game I came over to see you (Bram) play him (Freitag) and I was trying to keep myself from eating my own fist when I saw you pull the Cap-trick with greater succes than I did. Sadly, since there were only 17 players, I 'only' won a minty english The Abyss. Still nice, though. Oh, and I hear that starting next month, Eindhoven will be a sactioned event again. Yay! I second that feeling. I like it better when the tournament is sanctioned, even though I don't have a Black Lotus (yet). And absolutley don't mind my rating, I'm playing the game for fun and mental challenge. Seeing only 17 players was indeed a bit of a dip, but come to think about it, most of the best players where there...
