Agony Manifest
RR
Sorcery

As an additional cost to play CARDNAME, pay 1 for each creature in play and each player.
Roll a six-sided die.  CARDNAME deals that much damage to one creature or player.  Repeat this process for each creature and player.

I hope the execution of this card is correct.  It probably never costs less than 3RR to cast and the end result is dicey, but that embodies Red through and through.  I wish my wording were more elegant but I don't know how else to do it without using the phrase 'legal target' 703 times.  It's a die rolling card which has (to my recollection) been a strictly Un-set mechanic, but I figured flipping a coin until you're wrong for each creature and player would be cumbersome.  I definitely want the flavor of random damage to all creatures and players to stick with the card, and if anyone can think of a better way to do it go ahead.

Six sided dice are strictly unglued--and they were so unpopular there that they didn't even continue them for unhinged.

I realize the nature of other six-sided cards.  How, then, would you word the card without using dice?  Random damage has never really been explored, and yet Red is the color of chaos.  It can randomly reassign targets on the stack, it can cause you to randomly discard and it has certain enchantments that randomly target creatures.  Why not random damage?

Red has erratic explosion and kaboom! for random damage.

This doesn't really do much that Kaboom! didn't do - they both fill the "big, fun, random damage" slot. I'm not sure we need another (we sure don't need another Goblin Game, for example!)

That name is rather cool, but it seems way more black than red to me. A quick gatherer search shows that of the 2 cards ever printed with Agony in the title, both were black ([card]Binding Agony[/card] and [card]Tendrils of Agony[/card]). Makes sense if you think about it, black's the color that goes about methodically torturing it's victims, red just kills spur of the moment.

You could turn this into a Pyroclasm variant that could use coin flips to determine whether a creature gets a predetermined large or small amount of damage. For example...

Rain of Ash
{1}{R}
Instant

For each creature in play, flip a coin. If you win the flip, Rain of Ash deals 3 damage to that creature. If you lose the flip, Rain of Ash deals 1 damage to that creature.

Did you know that Red is the color or art and music and passion? Combine that with Green, the color of nature, spiritualism, and community and you get a hippie commune of drum circles, dreamcatchers, and recreational drug use. Let's see that win a Pro Tour.
