I'm considering purchasing a playmat because I'm sick of playing on dusty gameshop tables.

Only if it says TMD open on it, and has a picture of mind's eye, yep.

Right now I don't use one at the local tournaments because it's standard and I don't want to seem pompous, but I definitely use one at any bigger tournament.

Do you have any art on your mats?

I just bought a playmat recently, and am anxiously awaiting an opportunity to have some art drawn onto it, Smile.

Having a playmat saves you so much money... not ruining card condoms is savage.

Having some really nice art done on the mat is sooo nice too...

I absolutly love my mat that I won in a vintage tourney out here...it has a profile of a really big rathi dragon holding a black lotus both of course drawn by christopher rush...really nice...!

I'd been wanting a playmat for ages, and finally got one at the latest Waterbury. I highly recommend making the purchase. I play on particularly grimy tables in general, so a mat really helps save my sleeves. Plus it's something else to pimp. I asked Ray, Jacob, Kowal, and tons of other people to just randomly sign it. I wish I had a scanner around here, because the Brassman Seal of Approval is particularly awesome.

I don't feel pompous at all when I use my mat. In the same way that some people laugh when I tell them I play Magic, some Magic players laugh when they see I use a mat. If I wanted to, I could point out that my deck is worth probably 10 times theirs, but who cares? I like to keep my stuff in good condition, and if they have a problem with that, good for them. It's not worth my time to change their mind.
