Anyway, my point is that the community has been fragmenting itself, first it was mostly regarding the game, but it HAS gotten weaker, progressively, and as the community loses cohesion, players lose motivation to stop around, which makes this whole thing even weaker, and we have this vicious circle that brings us to this.

about the whole weaker community thing, could it be most of you guys have the good ol days syndrome?
I mean most of the stuff I hear on the topic are "what ever happend to X", and "remember that funny inside joke 5 of us had 4 years ago, man that was great".

Well, X grew up, lives in NH, got married and has a kid.
And that inside joke, it sucks. No, really, its not that funny.

Heh, sometimes I feel like some of the older members are like college grad students hanging around the old frat house, trying to relive their glory days, and yet surprised non of the girls will talk to them, and the stupid drinking games them and three buddies came up with suck.

The community didn't get weaker, it got bigger. You can't fit Type I into one single space anymore, it had to grow. SCG has a decent Vintage Forum (well, kinda), Team Boards are where a lot of the innovation takes place, and a lot of the good articles are being written for cash money via MTG.com and SCG, but that dosn't define a weak community, it defines a vibrant community.

sure, lots of us, especially with the sale of TMD, are feeling a little nostalgic. After all, it is

End of an era.

I'll miss the old days too, but now its time for us monkeys to evolve, else MOVE BITCH, get out the way.

P.S.

uhhh, on topic, I LOVE THE VINTAGE FORUM, and huzzah for new people posting (even if it is the SAME EXACT TPS debate we had like 12 months ago)

P.P.S.

@ the old dudes, don't leave altogether, just start posting in the community forums!

-huggs and kisses, carter

More succinctly, people are leaving faster than replacements are being integrated into the community.

Guilty as charged, nataz, I do have the syndrome, and won't deny it. I give my perspective as an outsider, because that's pretty much what I am, and it's bound to be skewed somewhat. However, what I said is that I sense less cohesion now, and coupling that with what I read, I came up with a theory for it.

We all wanted things to change, to grow, and they did. I'm not complaining, it wouldn't be right because I am no longer even part of the t1 community, I just pointed out the way I think things changed. I do hold on to memories of the past, but that's no reason to trash an oppinion, I think.
