I decided to try out some of the new G/W Ravnica cards.

2 Sakura-Tribe Elder
4 Myr Servitor
4 Raise the Alarm
4 Veteran Armorer
4 Selesnya Evangel
2 Field Surgeon
2 Selesnya Guildmage

2 Ramosian Rally
4 Devouring Light
1 Superior Numbers

3 Spawning Pit
2 Glare of Subdual
2 Meekstone
2 Slate of Ancestry
2 Aura Shards

9 Plains
8 Forest
2 Rith's Grove
1 Selesnya Signet

Originally this had Smokestacks (Servitor/Evangel makes it one-sided) and Enlightened Tutors (to find stuff) but I don;'t have sleeves for this and didn't want those cards gettign scuffed.

The Servitors were going to be great in my initial versions but that deck was horrible and when I removed the Smokestacks these kind of lost much of their reason for living. They do work nicely with Spawning Pit and Aura Shards, though.

STE is pretty much a filler slot.

Ramosian Rally has been pretty disappointing, because there's never enough guys around for it to be awesome. For the same reason, Superior Numbers has been hogwash, but I can't bring myself to remove such an in-theme card. I certainly won't add any more, though.

I need to get two more Guildmagi. They will probably replace the Rallies.

Does anyone have any suggestions for more cards to try? Meekstone/Glare is a neat combo, is there any way to pump the opponent's creatures to keep them locked down? Maybe I could work in Twilight Drover, would that be good? This deck needs some more raw power. It's also kind of budget, meaning I am not looking to spend more than $5 on this deck, so please don't suggest Coat of Arms or something. Heartstone would be synergistic, but I really need some ooph.

Oathsworn Giant? I was going to suggest Collective Unconscious, but Slate is just better. Spontaneous Generation?

Well, mostly those just give you more cards after you're winning. I really need something to use my horde with. Ephraim suggested [card]Kamahl, Fist of Krosa[/card] and right now that looks promising.

Oathsworn Giant gives your other creatures +0/+2 and Vigilance, so it's hardly bad, but Kamahl is pretty good Smile. I wrote Spontaneous Generation before, but I actually meant Saproling Symbiosis (3G, Sorcery, put a 1/1 Saproling into play for each creature you control, play as instant for 2 more). Would Vitu-Ghazi, the City Tree fit in here? Uncounterable Saprolings seem good.

No, I have lots to do with my mana - Evangel tokens, Spawning Pit tokens, and both of Guildmage's abilities suck up tons and tons of mana.

I want like one more kamahl-level finisher, but not a second kamahl, as he is legendary.

With all of the Saprolings you have running around, I believe that the second finisher that you're looking for is Nemata, Grove Guardian. Reasonably cheap Saproling generation along with an ability that can result in some monstrously huge Saprolings. Plus you can wait until after your opponent has delcared blockers to use it, so that blocked Saprolings get sacrificed to make the rest larger.

And guess what - I actually own one Nemata already! I was also looking at Hand of Justice.

If anyone is still keeping track...-1 Field Surgeon, +1 Hour of Reckoning. Surgeon got cut because he never actually did much.

well seeing as how this is a casual deck this might get cut on principle, but what about skullclamp.  Because it seems like you would run out of gas fairly quikcly plus it is just so good.  Just thought id throw that out there in case you really did forget.

Also have you considered doubling season or parrallel evolution.  They would be good for massing more and more tokens.  Another possibility would be leonin sun stantdard or even just over run.

Although Skullclamp is probably superiour under many circumstances, he's running Slate of Ancestry as his draw engine. Especially if he does run out of gas, then it'll be especially useful, since he's going to have a bazillion little creatures.

Two things: one, I want to keep this 1.5 legal. So no Clamp. Two, Clamp is a little strong for a casual deck.

Hour of Reckoning has been superb. I might get another. I also want to find a [card]Twilight Drover[/card] to try out - I need some flying defense, and imagine the tricks it can do with Spawning Pit!

Why don't you run the real Saproling Lord, Verdeloth the Ancient. He's reaaally big and brings his own little army, while pumping those you already have. Plus, it's a tree! Who doesn't like smashing with trees?

Because it's expensive as hell. People, this is a Seriously Casual deck. I play it against decks which goldfish turn 4 - I can't be lugging around some eight mana hunk of junk! Kamahl is hard enough to get out as it is.

Jugan, The Rising Star might be what you're looking for a finisher...If you hunt around you can probably pick up a copy for $2. Also, Rith's Grove definitely needs to be cut and replaced with Selesnya Sanctuary. Look in the garbage after a big draft and you should be able to get a playset easily.

I know this won't happen in a tournament, but if my opponent has Chaos Orb in his hand while I'm controlling his turn from a Mindslaver, who flips the card if I force him to play it and activate it?

Hm, good point. I already have the Sanctuaries. However, the thing I don't like about Santuaries is that if you get a hand of Sanctuary+forest, you lose your two-drop, which is CRUCIAL for this deck. Grove in that slot is fine, though, since you likely were only going to spend two of your turn three mana anyway, so it only hurts your fourth turn's tempo.
