There were no good decks that played Slaver, so I just played the other hard core control deck that randomly locks its opponents out of the game.

That "demotion" had nothing to do with playskill, deck building skill, or anything like that anymore than being "promoted" from Full Member to Vintage adept has to do with those skills. Being a Vintage Adept has more to do with clearly conveying your good ideas and effectively communicating, having an good, positive attitude, NOT getting into flame wars, etc. There's so much more to VA than just "being good" (look at me, I haven't top 8'd in a long time).
That being said, Brian is obviously an excellent player, given his Vintage success and now this. Congrats dude!
