Since SCG bought the site, would it be cool if we started to allow posts for trading and selling cards? I always thought it was removed because Zherbus didn't want to deal with some clown trying to rip people off and holding him responsible. I don't mean making a trading forum, but maybe just allowing trades and sales in the Community forum.

Why would SCG owning TMD make any difference?  They don't want to be held responsible anymore than Z would have.  And allowing trades in any forum other than one specifically for it would just clutter it up, which makes it a terrible idea.  Trading is what MOTL and eBay are for.

Well then, forgive me for wanting to keep cards within the community. The idea of putting it in Magic community was so that only full members would have access to it, which I feel would basically eliminate any concern about being ripped off and needing someone to be responsible for it. If you've ever been to MOTL, then you understand why it's not such an appealing option.

The thought is there, but just dealing with the amount of threads and the amount of bickering and crap that was associated with trading and selling was too much.  This is a discussion site and since we focus on that, we are pretty good at it.  If we wanted to be the be-all, end-all Type 1 site, then maybe we could incorporate trading/selling, but there is a lot of overhead associated with doing that well, so we leave that to other sites which focus on that instead.

this isn't really going to change anytime soon unless Pete has something he's going to spring on us, which he routinely said he won't (and we all have no reason to think otherwise).

What is allowed is if you are looking to buy/sell a big, expensive card, or some harder to find foils, just post a note here and deal with it via PM with other members.  But large quantity trading isn't what TMD is all about.

To add to that:

Nothing at all has changed when SCG took over. Both Pete and Zherbus confirmed the rules and regulations that were in place, would remain so. This means no trades.
