I know that Mystical Tutor is a really quality tutor which is usually used in order to find missing combo pieces and it creates a slight card-disadvantage in exchange for a card you need, but I was wondering if it's worth to run this card in a Mono-Blue Control deck.
I usually use it to search for some bounce spell or a Fact or Fiction or perhaps even a Force of Will, if I'm gonna tap out during my next turn and I want to have a free counterspell available.
What do you suggest, is this card any good in this kind of decks or not?

I used it because it was my Extra Echoing Truth, Ancestral Recall, FoF, Thirst for knowledge, and or Mana Drain.  Depending on your build, its usually very solid and can be boarded out for Games 2 and 3 in favor of hate.

It gets tinker and ancestral. Depending on your build, that could be a good enough reason to deal with the disadvantage.

What if I don't run neither Tinker nor Ancestral?

Not having Tinker in a Mono-U deck makes sense...what would you tinker for?  If you were to mod your Mono-U for Tinker, you'll be swapping another slot for a target - DSC, etc.

The Ancestral should probably be there.

The bad thing about using a Mystical Tutor in a Mono-U is that you're showing your opponent what you have searched for.  Half the time you are playing Mono-U, you are bluffing the counter even if you don't have it in hand.

What would you drop from a Mono-U build to insert Mystical Tutor?

Hmmm - Improvement Forum, ayh? Tinker -> DSC is the best wincondition for a Mono U deck running Chalice, Brainstorm and Thirst. If you aren't playing any power cards and have no proxies available, play another deck that can be competitive.

I think you are right. How could anyone besides JDizzle ever play a Vintage deck without this card? Once again, play aggro if you can't afford any power cards. U/W Fishies or some combo Goblins for instance...

Merchant Scroll might be a better option. It gets ancestral, brainstorm, fof, thirst, force, echoing truth, etc.

IMHO, Merchant Scroll is Another option, but not better. It costs twice as much, is a sorcery, and doesn't get tinker. Merchant Scroll is more of Mystical numbers 2-5, but it doesn't mean you can cut the mystical for it.

And because this is the Vintage improvement forum I'll reiterate one point. Mono-Blue decks want to avoid tapping their mana on there own turn so as to mana available to counter on their opponents turn. IMO, Merchant Scroll is good card that promotes bad play by having players tap mana at the wrong time, for what is often times, the wrong thing.
