We had a great tournament yesterday with 30 players. Domenic "The Rising Star" Minicucci won 1st place with Flores' Dredge-atog. Chad Behre took 2nd place with The Mountains Win Again. Dana "MasterTap" Renfrew took 3rd place with (I believe) some version of Fish. Geoff Healy took 4th place with Suicide Black. We had a very busy day with lots of door prizes including Myriad Games Mana Cookies and some T-Shirt Challenges. I'll have a full tournament report posted later this week once I get time to type up all the details.
We'll be hosting a Guildpact Release Party on February 3rd and 4th to celebrate the new set along with a Guildpact / Ravnica 2HG tournament later in February. Our next Vintage tournament will likely be in March. More details will be posted here as soon as they're available. Thanks to everyone for coming and we'll look forward to seeing you all again soon!

Chad Behre took 2nd place with The Mountains Win Again. Dana "MasterTap" Renfrew took 3rd place with (I believe) some version of Fish. *giggle* All in all I had a ton of fun, even if I did play stupid against chad (the man) behre in rd. 4. I'm really glad I got to play again before this upcoming waterbury, it was a great opportunity to see some different deck choices. The Master Tap fishy thing was full of interesting SB stuff, TMWA proved to still be strong putting 2 people (at least?) into the top 8 while taking some big names down along the way, and I finally saw Dark Confidant successfully used in a non-fish deck. Thanks to everyone who lent me cards, Thanks to Dan for putting on another fun event, and Congrats to everyone who did well. In case anyone is curious, the top 8 was 2 TMWA 1 Bomberman (sans mages) 1 Gifts (FV?) 1 Dredge-a-tog 1 TT Confidant 1 Fishy-Growy thingy 1 SUI BLACK!

Sans Mages??
I was supposed to play mage's in the deck, and no one told me??
On a slightly more serious note, congrats to Geoff Healy on his first ever top eight. He absolutely crushed me with Sui-Black, and earned his semi-final slot.
One more thing. There was a player at the tourney (who shall remain nameless) who was an absolutely horrible sport, constantly berating his opponents. 42. Unsporting Conduct Unsporting conduct is unacceptable and will not be tolerated at any time. Judges, players, spectators, and tournament officials must behave in a polite, respectable, and sporting manner. Unsporting conduct includes, but is not limited to, using profanity, arguing with or act belligerently toward tournament officials, players or spectators, harassing spectators, tournament officials, or opponents, or failure to follow the instructions of a tournament offcial. All incidents of unsporting conduct are subject to the appropriate provisions of the DCI Penalty Guidelines and to further DCI review.
From watching the match, the players conduct can not be called anything but Major, at the least. Unsporting Conduct—Major
Definition Major unsporting conduct is defined as behavior that is disruptive to a player or players at the tournament, but does not cause delays or include any form of physical contact or significant emotional distress.
Examples (A) A player repeatedly calls a judge and argues that his opponent should lose the game for insignificant procedural oversights. (B) A player fails to obey the instructions of a tournament official. (C) A player repeatedly requests a concession from an opponent.
Philosophy Different levels of unsporting conduct should be penalized accordingly. The head judge is the final authority on what constitutes unsporting conduct.
Penalty Unsporting Conduct—Major REL 1 REL 2 REL 3 REL 4 REL 5 Game Game Match Match Match
Yes, I know that our Format is alot more easygoing the other formats, but constantly berating and belittling your opponent should NOT be tolerated. It is a game Ladies and Gentleman. Have fun, and treat it as what it is...a BLOODY GAME.

I guess you could call what I was playing fish, I personally call it Free Your Mind as it breaks away from most traditional fish decks. Anyone interesting in a decklist just send me a PM. Over all the tourney was alot of fun, I am looking forward to more in the future.

I was super-psyched to see a diverse, non-traditional Top 8. Congrats again to everyone who played!
With regard to the poor sportsmanship, I have spoken with the particular individual in question. I take responsibility myself for not paying closer attention to the Top 8 matches because I was playing T-Shirt Challenge matches. I apologize for the negative effect on the tournament. He was relatively well behaved during the day (easy to do while you're winning). I should have given him a warning and then a game loss if it continued. He has apologized (both to me and to the player he most aggregiously offended) and pledged to improve his behavior for future tournaments. That being said, this type of behavior will not be tolerated and I will be enforcing penalties as needed. I appreciate everyone's help letting me know when this type of behavior is going on. Do not hesitate to call judge if your opponent continues to be an aggravated poor sport. And thank you to all of you who come and have fun regardless of how you do in the event. We all love to win but it takes a certain amount of character to lose graciously. And like Mike says, we're in this for fun to begin with; it is a game.
I'll have the full decklists for Top 8 posted later this week.

Since people have requested that we run more events, we're considering doing another tournament in February instead of waiting until March. How's February 11th sound? This would put it 2 weeks after Waterbury. Once we get some feedback I'll post details about it (probably around the same time as I post the tournament report from this event).
