Has anyone considered running maybe jackal pups or goblin cadets as a 2/1 beater? They may be worth a shot, although just attacking for two is the only ability they have, ninja wants a 1 drop to piggyback onto of course.

@exit music- do you think jitte is superior to Sword of fire and ice for this deck? I understand completely that actual performance wise Jitte is just the BETTER card, but in U/r fish, I think sword might be slightly better as for example your mancers become bolt, beb, fire/ice proof, and a ninja with a sword attached is just plain SICK. Also that jitte is legendary, but the cast and equip cost is perfect for fish's mana curve... I would like to maybe try both out seperately or run 2 jitte 1 sofi or something just to see how they do.

I thought about Pup/Cadet but ultimately decided that the best way to win quickly is with an awesome piece of equptment. The 2/1s might be useful if you still use Null Rod, but since you don't have as much disruption as UW fish (like Meddling Mage, StP, ect) I went with the disrupting red dudes instead of the 2/1s. If you are expecting to face little/no Stax, Vandal could easily be cut for Jackal pup, or some other utility creature.

SoFI and Jitte both provide similar clocks... however, the reason I choose not to run any SOFIs is because it costs 3 mana. You really don't want to tap 3 mana for any single spell in this deck - it is a huge drain target, your mana will often be occupied by Factories and artifact-eating little men, while continuing to drop threats. For that extra 1 mana you do get a lot of fancy little abilities, but the purpose of the equiptment slot in the deck is to speed up the clock. Since Jitte's clock is as fast/faster than SoFI's for a cheeper cost, it gets all 3 slots. You will never need to cast more than 1 Jitte, either, so the Legend thing doesn't make much difference, unless you want to kill an opponent's Jitte.

Here is the list I plan on testing out today, I will post results as soon as I can:

4 Volcanic Island
4 Polluted Delta(or 2 strand, 2 delta if I fear needles)
2 Wooded Foothills
3 Island
1 Mountain
4 Mishras factory
4 wasteland
1 strip Mine

4 Grim Lavamancer
3 Ninja of the deep Hours
2 Waterfront Bouncer
2 Gorilla Shaman
2 Goblin Vandal
1 Saquata? Firewalker

4 Curiosity
4 Brainstorm
3 Stifle
2 Daze
3 Null Rod
4 Force of Will
3 Fire/Ice

Sb:
3 Sword of fire and Ice
3 Gilded Drake
1 Waterfront bouncer
2 Extract
3 Red elemenatal blast
3 Energy Flux

The swords obviously would swap in for the null rods against any form of aggro. I know I will play at least a decent build of u/w fish today, so we will see how that goes... The firewalker I think is a so so addition but the protection from red and the whole "put a curiosity on me and I turn sideways to ping and draw you a card Very Happy " deal makes it worthwhile for a testing...

I'm not sure about Firewalker.

And he's not exactly Pro-red. He just can't be targetted by red stuff. Worse than Pro-red. Pinging isn't a huge deal in this environment, and I don't think it really makes the cut. That, and he doesn't really beat on an open field. I know Sword changes that, but thats in the SB.

Anyway, I'm not seriously rethinking Curiousity.  I haven't played around with it much, but I think it could be saucy. I'll proxy the cards I still need and test/play a little down at a store.

True, pyroclasm would still kill him, he was just a toss in to try him out, which unfortunately I didnt even get to play with this yesterday. The firewalker will most likely just come out of the deck, I may also remove the fourth curiosity as well so I have 2 slots open for another creature.. I am still leaning towards running the voidmages, or the izzet guilmages...

If your looking for "Tim" power, you might want the on color, 2 cost: Razorfin hunter.
But still, I would say something else is better than a pinger.

I'd say throw in some evasion like 2 Flying men.  Curious Men? Yes please.

I would play one more fetchland.
-1 Polluted Delta
-1 Island
+2 Flooded Strand

2 types of fetchland is better against Needle. More fetch is a better way to get on-color land, you want to cast spells from both colors, so you don't want to have islands only.

Firewalker + Curiosity is really cool, but i think Firewalker will be too expensive. Also, one Firewalker is very random. The chance you get it in play is very small, so either you play more (if you like them), or you leave them out.
I would try one more Stifle, because it's blue land distruction (against strip and fetch) and it also keeps away Ninjas in a fish-mirror. Of course Stifle works against a ton of other things.

The razorfin hunters are always an option, the fourth stifle will most likely end up in the sideboard for any trouble decks
