I'd like to congratulate 49 Cents Godder as the winner of 3CB Tournament #72!
Once again an arguably less broken deck took the top slot! The broken removal targeted nonland cards, so the land engine stapled to a Cabal Therapy proved very powerful! Congratulations to what proved to be a superb metagame choice!

As you can see there's a question marked match between the winner and a close competitor - that match decides the tournament winner, so suggestions would be great! The Meddling Mage/Mesmeric Fiend/Cabal Therapy usual-banned-list triumvirate proved less abusive than I'd have thought - especially the last two, as they can be more easily paired with other threats - due to the high number of lands being used as threats. A very interesting set of results, either way; I'll probably continue this format for two more tournaments, but it depends on entrants.

EDIT: Result determined and winner changed accordingly!

For the next fortnight:

The banned list is different - all cards from last week were banned (as well as a small initial list), but after each tournament, all cards used (except basic lands) are banned for the following tournaments.

The rules for this competition will be: Anything Goes! For Now!

What is 3cb?

3-Card Blind (3CB) is a very unique game. The rules are as follows

Your deck is composed of 3 cards, all of which start in your hand.
You have no library (technically, the library exists, but starts at 0 cards) and no sideboard (Wishes fetch nothing).
Random effects always go in your opponent's favour.
You can see your opponent's hand, so you can always make the best possible play.
You don't lose as a result of not being able to draw a card.
You will play each opponent twice, once going first, once going second.
For each win, you score 3.
For each draw, you score 1.
For each loss, you get nothing.
Other than the aforementioned, EVERYTHING IS HANDLED EXACTLY LIKE A REAL GAME OF MAGIC!

To make an entry, PM your deck to combo_dude in the following format:

Subject: 3cb Tournament #73 Entry or 3cb Tournament#73 Revision
Deck Name
Card #1
Card #2
Card #3

Optional Deck discussion, random sucking up, etc.

I'll close entries after 2 weeks. Get your entries in by 6th March and I'll calculate.

This week should be interesting; there are still quite a few dangerous cards out there, but mana sources are running a little drier than usual! See what you can do with this weeks' collection.

Adam

EDIT: some changes made.

Yeah, I won Very Happy

First I submitted Duress, because I thought Therapy was banned. But instead, Duress was banned and Therapy wasn't. Since therapy is way better I chose the obvious Very Happy

The kill didn't actually matter.

Good point...you weren't the only one to send in a banned card, so a note to everyone: please check the list before submitting!

I seriously had Orchard/Brand/Therapy typed up and ready to send, and then decided to go with a deck that had won before, basically at the last second Very Happy.

To answer the match-up result, I win both games because Therapy does nothing of note, we make tokens at the same speed (one per turn), and I can make tokens forever, whereas Orchard/Brand can only make tokens once, so I can just trade tokens and keep making them.

Edit: Should the banned list include Karoo?

Yeah, that makes sense - the head start that the Brand deck gets makes no difference. Change of winner, I think!

Thanks for the heads-up about the banned list - my mistake. Will edit the first post.

I can't believe my next deck is legal.. Seriously some people are crazy for not having used some cards yet..

Edit:  The appropriate name for Reanimators list shoudl have been "The Tong Song"

Yeah, there are some powerhouses still running around. Also, a lot of the decks I see in regular tournaments have been conspicuous by their absence, although I suspect this is because people were trying to break better cards than Workshop first time round.

More decks would be good - still only about 6 decks at the moment.
