Can I at 0 life weld out one Platinum Angel for another and not lose the game?  I presume I can, given the following wordings:

"The effect works exactly like 'Put target artifact a player controls into the graveyard, and put target artifact in that player's graveyard into play'." (Welder)

"An effect like F'licker' would actually cause the Angel to leave play and immediately come back. The important part is that state-based effects don't check while resolving a spell, so the fact that Platinum Angel was gone briefly won't kill you because it'll be back for the next time state-based effects are checked." (Saturday School)

Just looking for confirmation.  Thanks in advance.

Yup your good to go.

Basically you can only loose the game Between spells on the stack... not durring.  Game State is checked after each ability resolves but before a player is given priority.  durring this check of game state many things happen, most importantly players winning and looseing the game happen durring this check.

Another thing that works is being at 1 life and casting reanimate on a plats.  When the spell actually resolves you pay Loose 7 life going to -6 life, but then plats comes into play as part of the same resolution so when game state checks, it sees the plats in play and thus you do not loose the game.

Being at 1 7 life with Channel and plats in hand does NOT however work, because these are two separate abilites.  Similarly putting a plats into play trying to use 4 ancient tombs wont work either.

A little nitpick: you don´t PAY life when your reanimated Platz enters play. You LOSE life.

While that my seem academic, you can e.g cast Vampiric Tutor when you´re at 0 life, but you cannot activate a fetchland.

Yes, my bad, your right.  Also it makes my channel example a bad one... so I'll change it to be at 7 life so then you can actually "pay 7 life to add {7} to your mana pool" rather than only have the ability to pay one.  I made that post pre-morning-coffee =P
