Stax beats grimlong when they have 4 chalice, 4 sphere, 1 trinisphere, 3 crucibles and wastelands...

That's why I did horrible with it in Wisconsin.  3 rounds (losing the Roll) where my opponent opened with chalice + sphere, REALLY sucked.  The funny part is EVERY GAME i lost to stax, I needed to draw ONE card (Elvish spirit guide) to hurkyl's them and win the game.  I don't have the savage skills of topdecking though =-(

It's also possible that there were misplays since grim long is the hardest deck in the format to play optimally.

I logged at least 1000 hours testing with the deck, and I can admit there were still mistakes I made.  There is a reason I prefer Intuition Tendrils to Grimlong.   The deck is INSANELY hard to play.    I'm not saying I'm a bad player.  Heck, I'd say I'm a pretty decent player, but Grimlong is WAY too unforgiving for me to play.  I did fairly well with it for a little bit, but I'm no Smemmen.

Thanks Matt for posting the list and Im sorry to Matt and Jeff that you couldnt split.. But I really hope to see you all there on the 9th!! We changed the post inculde an upgrade at 30 people to a Mox Ruby/Italian Drain so I hope that makes everyone a little happier!!!

<<@ 13nova Ive never played the full grim long deck but I have the IT list together with some changes for the meta game here and I like that better then most Combo decks that I have played,It is a hard deck to play.

any deck is hard for hatcher to play properly.  We all know this.

There is one mistake i made in the finals that i can remember, game three we both durressed first turn, his hand was something like land, intutuition, gifts, demonic tutor and i took dt, on my next turn i could have cast time twister forcing him to go for trip force on his intuition thus emptying his hand and taking three forces out of his deck.  i for some reason did not and that ultimately cost me the match.
