Let me start by explaining that I know this card probably isn't balanced, I'm not that great at doing that (hence why I've posted this). Basically I wanted a controllable version of Sphere of Resistance. So here's my little creation at the moment.

Sphere of Denial
 {6}
Artifact
Each spell costs {1} more to play for each card in its owner's hand.
 {B} or 1 life: Discard a card at random, any player may play this ability any time they could play a sorcery.
"As one's knowledge grows, so does the impending insanity within."

As I said it probably isn't balanced properly, I'm wondering whether the discard should be random or not and whether this should cost more.

Current Wording:

Sphere of Denial
 {6}
Artifact
Each spell costs {1} more to play for each card in its owner's hand.
 {1} or 1 life: Discard a card at random, any player may play this ability any time they could play a sorcery.
"As one's knowledge grows, so does the impending insanity within."

the card would mean win, if you could get it into play. lots of cheap artifacts and rituals. your opponent can do anything. this would be a must in any tendril deck.

I think it should cost  {6}.

i think it should also be {1} instead of {B}

even like this its overpowered. plus it would combo great with madness.

I cant really think of a more balanced version.

what about giving it Fading 0 or 1 or something?

Yes,Tarmogoyf is probably better than Chameleon Colossus, but comparing it to Tarmogoyf is like comparing your girlfriend to Carmen Electra - one's versatile and reliable, the other's just big and cheap.(And you'd run both if you could get away with)

What about if it said "You may play no more than one spell per turn." and I gave it cumulative upkeep of draw a card? Or would that make it too weak?

Did you know that Red is the color or art and music and passion? Combine that with Green, the color of nature, spiritualism, and community and you get a hippie commune of drum circles, dreamcatchers, and recreational drug use. Let's see that win a Pro Tour.
