Luis and Ochoa busted out with identical mono-red Metalworker Stax decks, I ran with Crushing Chamber, Chris Poff showed up with his version of Poff Stax, Michael Painter showed up with WhateverStaxDeckWonRochester.
dec. This puts our usualy field of 20-30 players from 10% Shops/Stax to 25% shops/Stax.
All five decks made to 8.
Luis and Ochoa have been riding Tendrils TPS/Bob decks for about 4 months now and shook things up by metagaming anti TPShate Shop.Stax.Pwn.Dec builds, and some players showed up after a few months absence to skew the local meta to a Shop Heavy environment (as opposed to 80%top 8 Bob/Drains field). Neat.
Also in top 8 were Galen with Ichorid, Brett Allen with (looked like) Sullivan Solution and Stephan with CS

My report.
I threw together Crushing Chamber last night and show up pumped.
Round 1: Someone piloting Keeper with Hide/Seek, Morph Creatures and Skeletal Scrying (I like it...!)
I smash face 2 games in a row with BlinkMoth Nexus and Cranial Plating.
Round 2: I face David Ochoa (Webster)
Game 1: I play mox mox mox solring cranial plating frogmite wasteland, go.
2 turns later he is dead.
Game 2: he owns me with Welder, Tangle Wires, Gambled for Triskellion with 0 cards in hand (nice play!) and I scoop as he his capping me.
Game 3: He gets Welder, Trike, TangleWire craziness happening, and I sandbag a Tolarian Academy, Mox and Mana Crypt. I topdeck Triskellion, own his welder and get Arcbound Crusher on the field. After I smash him to 1 life, he popps a Cap in his own ass to remove 2 Ancient Tombs and a Mana Crypt from his library, before topdecking something that wasn't an answer.
I have regained my Mojo.
Round 3: Michael Klemic playing Control Slaver.
Game 1: He forces my early Arcbound Crusher pitching Mana Drain (hot damn!), and I get some frogmite beats going. My Crucible eventually sticks and I topdeck a Ghost Quarter to rob him of colored mana and he scoops eventually.
Game 2: He mulligans (possibly to 5) and keeps a Ruby/Welder hand. I get fats out, maybe Trike and he Tinkers up Pentavus, which does a good job of chumping for him until Arcbound Crusher hits the field. (It tramples).
Michael doesn't play Mox Monkies, which was all I really Really feard.
Round 4: Galen playing Ichorid.
We could possibly have drawn into top 8, but he is playing Ichorid and I am playing Workshop Aggro, and I want to smash face. (we will both get in, most likely, in any event.)
He gets me game 1, I don't remember how.
Oh yes I do. He Vampiric Tutored for a Balance, and MindTwist/WrathOfGod/Armageddoned my field away. Why wasn't Balance in original list?
Game 2: I pwn him (I think...)
Game 3: I have a winning field position, he is in Topdeck Mode and time is called. I get extra turn 1, 3 and 5.
I scrub out and try to win on turn 1 instead of lay Crainial Plating #2 on my Arcbound Crusher (currently a 9/9). I lose. I suck sometimes...
Round 5: ID with Stephan something playing Control Slaver.
I make top 8 and am now on familiar ground (I made top 8 at Eudomonia 3 out of 4 tournies I attended, this makes it 4/5 whoot!)
I face David Ochoa.
Game 1: I win by going Broken and he not (this may be game he mulled to 5...) but I went broken none the less.
Game 2: He wins.
Game 3: I get great start, he gets Shop Ensnaring Bridge to stop my 6/1 Beater, and Lotus Viashino Heretic to make sure I lose.

Trevor in a feature match, winning round 2 with his Protean Hulk/Kobold Deck. You see, he casts Show and Tell, putting Protean Hulk into play, then Cabal Therapies it away, letting him get 12 Kobolds/Ornithopters and Kobold Taskmaster./T2 CMC 4 Gives creature Haste/+1 power, reducing his opponent's life from 20 to -1 in one turn. I got it on Film. see? That's Trever with the Kobolds in front of him. What a 'tard.
I owed him a drink for killing someone with his tech. The match ended in a draw, even though game 3 Trever faced Chalice for 0 AND Chalice for 1.
Brian Wu (The Legend of Magic) versus Pro-Tour Legend Mark Chalice. The top 6 of round 5 drew into top 8, this was one of the guaranteed "winner advances to top 8" games. This was Brian's field (he had at LEAST 1 counter in hand...That's Arcane Lab MAINDECK in monoBlue Wu.Dec versus Will.Dec (GrimLongBob?)
This was Mark Chalice's field. The unseen black card in hand was apparently Yawgmoth's Will, prevented only by Arcane Lab and (from what I hear...) only 1 Chain of Vapor left in deck to deal with that.
The game ended in a draw. Wu just let Chalice suck up Bob Damage, saving his Factory to chump Bob (like in my Gilded Claw!!!) and saving ALL counters ONLY for Bounce spells. It looked to ME like Wu would have won given a few more turns, almost guaranteed, but at end of 5 turns. Neither could win. Neither would conceed. That lets Chris Poff slip in with a 3-2-0. Whoot!
Andrej vs Stax (Jon A). I got to settle with Andrej the thing about him conceeding to me that one time finally. Andrej moved a Time Twister and I got peace of mind. (It's been about 16 months since I could do anything to reciprocate Andrej's generosity, beyond letting him pick which card he keeps from an Intuition (with three different cards even!)
Brett Allen vs Michael Painter: Rochester Revisited. Yes, that is SS vs Stax.pwn from Rochester Day 1 and 2 respectively.

Slops:
David Ochoa for starting top 8 game 3 for having turn 1 Ensnaring Bridge AND Viashino Heretic. I had Ravager/Triskellion combo kill potential to deal with Heretic, and well, Heretic was really bad for me regardless. I try to tell myself that you guys put the Heretics in there for me cuz I might have played The Gilded Claw again. In my mind, I skew the NorCal Metagame.
