Troll Glutton
{G} {G}
Creature -- Troll Shaman
3/2
Troll Glutton can't be the target of spells or abilities you control.

I remember reading about how Humble Budoka is actually worse than Grizzly Bears because your opponent never has to worry about combat tricks. Basically, this card is a +1/+0 bear that can never be equipped, enchanted or Might of Oaksed but still dies to just about every removal spell your opponent has. Basically, he's an anti-Troll Ascetic.

Savage Ape
{G} {G}
Creature -- Ape Warrior
3/2
Savage Ape can't be the target of spells or abilities you control.
Others say that the gorilla tribes are at war with one another. I say that there must be periods of peace to call it war.

How about choosing a non-legend creature? Otherwise he is a UG instant Wrath of Frog.

That's an interesting symmetry, and the card is well balanced too. All that seems a bit off is the name.

This is a well-designed card that doesn't need any tweaking; wizards already makes cards that are strictly better than Grizzly Bears (anyone remember Wild Mongrel?) and this will very often be much worse. It could be 4/1, I think.

I'd rather add another ability to mirror Troll Ascetic's regeneration. I'm not sure if there's much room for a good ability, though. True, cards can be strictly better than Grizzly Bears, but not by much. A point of power is a big deal on a two-mana creature. And Wild Mongrel was a mistake. If someone submitted Wild Mongrel to this board, I would inform them it was too powerful.

Although I like the symmetry with Troll Ascetic, I don't think this should be a troll if it doesn't regenerate. I think the card is perfectly balanced as is and don't want to add another ability. So what should this be? Elf? Dryad? Beast? Any ideas about creature type/name/flavor text?

What about having:

Discard a card: Regenerate Troll Glutton?

Other than that, not a bad card; it reflects the Ascetic without being identical.

You could make it an Insect or an Ape. I'd rather leave it without another ability.

Not that I think he needs a 2nd ability, but if you wanted him to mirror Troll Ascetic, you could give him activated venom?

{1} {G}: At the end of combat destroy a creatures who were dealt damage by ~this~ this turn.

I've updated the flavor a bit. I like it as an ape. Too bad Savage Gorilla was already taken.

I feel the card is where it needs to be mechanically. It only needs an ability to mirror Troll Ascetic if it is still a troll. And if it's a troll, it needs to regenerate. I feel regeneration would weaken the drawback too much. The whole point is if someone tries to kill him, you can't save him with a Giant Growth or Healing Salve effect.

You could call it Savage Ape, or Barbaric Gorilla. Savage Warrior sounds like a Human.

Yeah, Savage Ape is better than Savage Warrior.

For GG, about the best we have is Elvish Warriors at 2/3.  I'm fine with this being a 3/2.
