You know what irks me the most?
That MaRo had the audacity to taint the good name of the Rakdos by including a justification for HoFLong in their article.

By itself it's AK times two for double the cost. It's a sorcery but you can also build around it.

Any particular reason the colored mana requirement is so harsh? Seems like it would be fine at 2GU.

I'm decent at throwing effects together. Making sure they're reasonably costed.. well.. I'm not so strong in that area.

Edit: After thinking some more, I'm wondering about lowering the cost, having it only give yourself a poison counter (or 2), and then having you draw a card for every poison counter you have.... taking the blue out and making it green/black. Maybe a 1GB Sorcery.

It's a mechanic helper card which says 'play lots of poison'. This one depends almost entirely on the rest of the set - if a 'poison yourself' theme gets pushed strongly, this could be an Arcbound Ravager, if it doesn't it could be an Evermind.

Indeed, I see sort of a black/green (or maybe green/white?) spiritual guild similar to the native americans that would head out into the desert to be poisoned nearly to death by snakes in order to seek enlightenment from the hallucinations... I was planning on posting more cards in that vein if this one was taken well. Poisoning yourself for an advantage, but you have to be careful not to go too far or it's lights out.
