My most favorite, and diverse format might not be around this year. A lot of rumor's have been going around and there might not be an extended this year. Why would they do that? Last year was insanely successful, I loved every minute of it. I played a ton of different decks, homebrew and popular to well placings...

If they do have one, has anyone been thinking about decks? Aggro will certainly be good. I think the Rock will continue to be a moderately fair choice.

I can't wait to start working on Gro decks then scrapping them because I don't have Daze.

Yeah, I really like extended right now. We play small tourneys for fun, but they are nothing like the real deal. I just know that:
- Zoo is insane,
- ScepterChant is insane,
- Zoo is insane.

Seriously. I really like the Dutch zoo build right now, so it's a damn shame I don't get to play it at a PTQ this year..

Keep in mind that the first pro tour this season was fed by an Extended qualifier season.  While that wasn't technically "this year," there was already an Extended season this cycle of Pro Tours.

Q: I've been looking at the Pro tour schedule, and I've noticed that there aren't any Ravnica Block Constructed PTQs scheduled for the summer like there was for the last 2 years. I and many of the people I know love block constructed formats and are currently building decks for it. Does the DCI plan on having said tourneys or are we stuck with the current formats?

A: From Scott Larabee, DCI Program Manager:

Brian,

We have 2 constructed rounds of Pro Tour Qualifiers each season. In the past, we have always offered Block Constructed and Extended. This year, we decided to run a Standard round of qualifiers (the Team Standard qualifiers for Pro Tour-Charleston). We ran Extended qualifiers for Pro Tour-Honolulu late last year. So, that leaves Block Constructed out as a Pro Tour Qualifier format this year. Rest assured, Block Constructed qualifiers will make an appearance again in the near future however.

Yes,Tarmogoyf is probably better than Chameleon Colossus, but comparing it to Tarmogoyf is like comparing your girlfriend to Carmen Electra - one's versatile and reliable, the other's just big and cheap.(And you'd run both if you could get away with)

Decklist begging is a definite faux pas. Do your own homework! I reccommend Starcitygames.com

I don't think they had anything on Extended Zoo at SCG, Matt.

Anyway, Bad Wolf, Zoo is 3+ color aggro. I asked 49cents about the Dutch list and here is what he sent me.

Quote from: 49cents
3 Flooded Strand
4 Windsweapt Heath
4 Wooded Foothills
2 Overgrown Tomb
2 Sacred Foundry
2 Temple Garden
1 Hallowed Fountain
1 Breeding Pool
1 Blood Crypt

3 Isamaru, Hound of Konda
3 Savannah Lions
4 Kird Ape
4 Grim Lavamancer
4 Meddling Mage
4 Boros Swiftblade
4 Watchwolf
4 Dark Confidant

2 Armadillo Cloak
4 Tribal Flames
4 Gaea’s Might

No Helix or Seal of Fire in this build, and the Kudzu's are in the SB.

From what I can guess, the SB might look something like:

4 Vinelasher Kudzu
3 Naturalize
3 Kataki, War's Wage
3 Pithing Needle
2 Condemn/Engineered Plague/Fire//Ice

As you can see, it is, in fact, insane. The only thing I really strongly feel is wrong with it is a lack of Stomping Grounds.

In response to the original question, Extended is normally the absolute first PTQ format (right after the first PT of the new season).

The new PT schedule is out, and Extended is on it, as is Time Spiral Booster Draft and Block Constructed, and 2HG Limited is the team event.
