Proxy Tournaments are rare in Germany. This was one of the few that sometimes take place. It was a test to see what happens.
What happened:
- 17 players appeared, which is quite much during vacation times
- 4 players were able to play "powered" through proxies (2 went top 8 - Johannes and Fabian)
- most of the players had very few proxies (most of them play sanctioned T1, so they own P9)
- most proxied card: Grim Tutor
- most played deck (6 times): Litz Long (of course we name it that way  Wink )
The organizer was quite content with the tournament, so I guess we will have some more proxy tournaments in the future, maybe alternating with sanctioned ones.
1st prize: italian Mana Drain

thats quite the varied results for a top 8!

were most people pleased with the proxies on the whole?

its interesting in that gifts list that there is a Stitan but no colosus, seems sort of poor because there is stax present and lots of combo, and you would think the Darksteel would be better for those matchups.

Thanks for sharing the lists

Well, Collossus is better for the staxx matchup, but its favorable for Gift anyway and Dark Gifts kills much more frequently with Tendrils. In the combo matchup on the other side, I don't see any reason why Collossus should be any better. The other way around, Titan shines against combo which usually plays swamps and islands over here.

Most people already own power, since all of the tournaments are sanctioned. Some guys however did not, and they were very pleased, of course  Wink
Some people were angry, because they spent a lot of money getting their power. I think having sanctioned and proxy tournaments alternating will be best for everyone.
We will see...

Wow angry that more people get to be competitive and play your favorite format? seems pretty selfish.
i'm fully powered and i always loved proxy events because of these things not the other way around, seems sort of near sighted, who cares about the money.

RE: colosus
yeah if the combo decks are playing basic lands than i guess it seems ok, i would still rather have a 2 turn clock than 3 turn clock with a stone rain, esp. since you have the oportunity to hit a walk or to mini tendrils them out.

It is more likely a "3 turn clock with double or tripple Stone rain" which is good.
When I devastaded the manabase I dont`t care if it takes one more round to finish. And the combo decks often deal 6 dmg to themselves due to Grim Tutor, Crypt and Fetchlands or with the help of Dark Confidant.
In these 5 rounds I played against 2 Litz Long/Pitch Long decks 2:0. Without the Titan and the Duresses this would not have been possible.
Darksteel Collossus just gets bounced via Chain or Rebuild especially if you can`t play Timewalk/Recoup in the same turn.
The Titan also shines vs control.  Against Stax I sideboard the colossus in.

Regarding the proxies: The problem is not only the money but more that the tournaments are not sanctioned and the proxies look ugly. (basics with the cardname written on).
And there is less "thrill" when you know it has nearly no consequences if you screw up.
If a lot of new players were attracted to the proxy-tournament it may be a little bit different, but the situation is that at this tournament most players dislike proxies and only very few like them.
