So the new Suspend rules are out, and the big effect is that you can play Suspend spells (even ones without a Casting Cost) through effects like Spelljack, Panoptic Mirror, Isochron Scepter, and Mind's Desire.  This means that the Suspend Lotus, Ancestral, Wheel and whatever goodies they give us fire through Desire.  Time to start brainstorming on ways to make the deck work.

Does this enable us to take out the clunkier Nostalgic Dreams engine?  That is (mostly) what enables Gifts Ungiven, but it seems like that opens you up to ridiculous amounts of hate.  You can cut back on Dreams to maybe a singleton or cut some of that altogether for Lotus and Ancestral for sure.  Or do these cards come in to replace the useful but expensive Fact or Fiction?  (I really really love the Gifts engine since it turns on so many wins, but it also makes you vulnerable).

What about Wheel of Fate?  I'm awfull worried about getting some stranded in your hand.  Regardless, they feel like strong board cards against Aggro Rock because if you get a Mountain and can suspend one early (nevermind that with the current core you don't have regular access to Red until turn 3 at the earliest), it can undo all of Aggro Rock's efforts.  For the most part, so can the Ancestral which suggests that it's a better solution since it can come down turn 1 to go off turn 5.  Also, Suspend cards can't be Therapied which is nice.

I think Lotus and Ancestral are obvious inclusions, but I think if you can find a way to get Wheel of Fate off a Desire... thats pretty insane. Like good times party party. I've never been a big fan of Gifts, so I would probably cut some of those for the new cards. I think I would be more helpful if you could post your build, or at least a preliminary one to get started.

The whole point about Heartbeat in that format though is that if you resolve Desire you've probably won anyways.  There's no need to run a card that's godawful on it's own, or for that matter even run any of those cards, when you can just expect to resolve a Desire for seven or eight and win the game right there anyways.  7 new cards after you Desired is less awesome than just winning immediately off said Desire.

The Ancestral seems useful since it can protect your hand from Therapy and Duress while you get mana into play, so you can (hopefully) go off with whatever it gives you.

Have you considered a Desire's deck with Black for Sins of the Past?

Sins will let you play Wheel of Fate from the bin, or if you flip it over with Desire, replay the Desire from the bin.  I could see playing Careful Study to pitch Wheel/Desire and then playing a whole bunch of mana in one turn to up storm and pay for Sins bringing back Wheel/Desire for the win.
