I got the idea for this card whilst playing a Legacy mono-White control deck last night

Seal of Abeyance
1{W}
Enchantment
Sacrifice ~this~: Until end of turn, target player cannot play instants, interrupts, sorceries, or abilities requiring an activation cost.

Weaker than Abeyance most of the time, it is better some of the time and different enough to warrant a new card IMHO.

Latest version

Seal of Abeyance
1{W}
Enchantment
Sacrifice ~this~: Until end of turn, target player cannot play instants, sorceries, or non-mana abilities requiring an activation cost.

Is this really the kind of thing we want to put into a Seal, or really make a part of the game?  I don't think it's a coincidence that there are only two cards that do this, and they're both relatively old.

This card is generally weaker than Abeyance, which I acknowledge probably wouldn't get printed these days.

It doesn't stop you drawing a card, casting creatures or attacking. Combo decks often have EOT bounce/disenchant which this is pretty ineffective against. This is not a broken card but it is a card smack bang in the middle of White's colour pie and has a lot of interesting casual Timmy applications.

Increase the casting cost. Especially because you can save it for the exact opportune time.

How about choosing a non-legend creature? Otherwise he is a UG instant Wrath of Frog.

Seeing as I have already changed the effect friom an Instant one to effectively Sorcery speed and ai have removed the pretty good 'Draw a card' ability, isn't that enough?  As it is I would be very surprised to see anyone use this outside of Casual. Honestly this is a Gilded Light kind of card - cool but you'd often rather draw another card instead.

I think it's fine, but definitely need a better name. Preferably one without "seal" in it.

'See all of a Beyonce' would be a popular card to illustrate Wink
And it would explain why an opponent sits and does nothing for a while.

nice card.

I like the seal idea, and I always loved abeyance. Abeyance is my orims chant

Yes,Tarmogoyf is probably better than Chameleon Colossus, but comparing it to Tarmogoyf is like comparing your girlfriend to Carmen Electra - one's versatile and reliable, the other's just big and cheap.(And you'd run both if you could get away with)

Any ideas for names (Matt?) I think Seal of Abeyance has that 'Does what you think it does' thing going for it. Seal in particular is tough to replace as stuff like Scrolls and Edicts and Orders all have different meanings in Magic.

Resurrected as I never actually started the clock on this one. Note that Wizards have added more Seals since I started this thread so I think Seal of Abeyance is fine as a name.
