Hello from BMT!

Hello all from Lackland AFB!

As many of you know, I had to leave the website for awhile.  Right now, I'm in my fourth of seven weeks of Basic Military Training for the US Air Force.  I've made it through the first few weeks, and I'm due to start field training tomorrow and graduate on Nov. 10th.  It's been a tough road, but I've definitaly been shaped for the better through it all.  For those of you who haven't heard too much about it, the most important thing is to listen to directions and do exactly what you're told.  Drill, physical fitness, classroom work, and dormitory cleanup are the daily rituals.  Today is my first opportunity to wander around the base ("base liberty") since I've been here. 

I want to thank those of you who were kind enough to support me before I left.  I've thought about many of you and hope that I can talk to you soon.  Hopefully I can say hello again in a couple weeks here.

I've had friends in the military and I've heard some horror stories.  I'm curious what motivates a person to subject themself to that amount of torture.  Why'd you do it?
