I've been looking forward to 300 since it was announced.  I'm a fan of the book and Frank Miller in general.  I'm thrilled they decided to go with the "Sin City" route.  Keeping with the style of the original art really makes the movie a unique experience.  With all these comic book movies coming out, it may not be total folly to hope for a Rising Stars movie.

I saw A Scanner Darkly by something Linklater over the holidays.

Basically, a movie about stuff (drugs) but altered to look like a graphic novel (comic book).  Pretty cool.

The live action Sin City stuff is cool also.

Art has many different mediums and good and bad stuff comes from it.

It's nice when movies do something newish.

The Maxx on MTV a decade ago made a cartoon that looked and felt like a comic book. (subtle distinction)
Sin City made a Live Action Movie that felt like a Graphic Novel, basically.
A Scanner Darkly made a live action movie into a Graphic Novel in cartoon form.  And it was a movie.  Weird.

Next on to do list: see A Waking Life.

Oddly, I first heard of it exactly yesterday. Which means I beatyou to the punch. Hooray!

If it's half as good as Sin City, it'll be in my top 3 for the next year.

The original Spartan story is so good I'd be amazed if they fucked it up. I'm very much looking forward to this.
