How tempo-riffic.  This card is pretty bad, but still vaguely interesting for not-vintage I think.  Needs flavor to not seem stupid... and needs to not be a land to not be out and out awful.

artifact

sacrifice ~this~: return target land to owner's hand.  That player may then put a basic land card into play.  If he or she does, draw a card.

So at worst, it takes a utility land off the table for nothing for 1 turn.  At best, you gain a land drop on your opponent for a card.  Cool or uncool?

edit: err, r o b o t = big artifact?  R0bots exist outside slaver goddammit!

sacrifice ~this~: return target land you do not control to owner's hand.  That player may then put a basic land card into play.  If he or she does, draw a card.

You probably want to add "Land you do not control" on there... Cantripping Lotus Petals are probably too powerful.

All in all, I think this should either loose the cantrip, or cost mana.

yeah, "do not control" should be there, I never meant for people to use this on themselves.

Do you really think it's worth mana though?  Best case scenario, absolute best, when your opponent has only nonbasic land and no one mana spells and you have it in your opener, it's kinda slick... almost a time walk, except when you don't have any mana to play important cards (non-vintage, people, I REALLY don't expect to see htis in vintage).  However, drawing it after the first few turns makes it have a pretty high chance of not actually costing your opponent a land drop at all, since they are much less likely to have a land sitting in their hand to play next turn.  Note that the cantrip is conditional: you only draw if they have a land to ninja into play, in which case (barring very specific situations which don't make the card remotely playable on their own) it does nothing whatsoever.

It's a pretty insane free effect when it "hits"... but is it worth running 4 when it does nothing so often?  Note that your opponent can decline to put a land into play to cost you a card.

It's strong in Standard where you can target Shock lands and Karoo lands. Other than that, it doesn't seem so good, so it's probably reasonable either at 0 or at 1. Affinity likes it, though.

I like the card. in vintage it can be nice, but if he doesnt play a land, then you dont get a card right? which is a why I wouldnt play it. still nice idea.

Yes,Tarmogoyf is probably better than Chameleon Colossus, but comparing it to Tarmogoyf is like comparing your girlfriend to Carmen Electra - one's versatile and reliable, the other's just big and cheap.(And you'd run both if you could get away with)
