That's right...as a thanks to all you for coming down to Stratford, I will be running a free side event at TMD OPEN 10.

The format:

Teams of three will each be given 3 playsets of Urza's Legacy commons.  From these 165 cards, they must add land to make three 40 card minimum decks.

Teams will then compete using the DCI rules for teams limited.  That is, each team's player A plays an opposing team's player A, Player B's play, and C's as well.  Whichver team wins 2 of their three matches wins the round.

Prize: TBD

Limited Attendance: With only 36 Commons Sets, the event has a maximum of 12 teams or 36 players.  First come first serve.

Time: 15 minutes after the swiss rounds end on Day 1.

Am I forgetting any information? Questions?

I was once asked on MWS, what the highest I ever finished at a TMD Open was.  I replied, "I've never played in a Waterbury.  I was then called "A TOTAL NOOB!"

Oh man, I totally wish I could play in this. Maybe I should just post potential decklists for people.

im guessing of the three playsets per team you can still only have maximum of four of a card per deck, but you could use all 12 of the same common in three different decks?

For example, each deck on the team could play 4 fledgling osprey? Smile

I think what Ray is saying is that each team will be allocated 3 sets total, 1 per person.  This means there's a de facto max of 3 of a card in a deck, I think.

Can't wait for this weekend. This awesome side event is a perfect example of Ray's stellar dedication to constantly improving the TMD Open. We'll look forward to seeing everyone at TMD X in about 15 hours!

Out of curiosity, why are you calling this a sealed event?  If you announce the card pools ahead of time, this is really no different than any other constructed format (albeit a highly restrictive one).  Obviously, it's nice of you to supply the cards to the players that may need them, but wouldn't it be easier for everybody and wouldn't it make the tournament run faster if you just allowed its participants to bring their decks already built?
