Anyone have experience with Windows XP Service Pack 2, especially Professional?  I installed it once and it basically fucked over my machine, so I've been very very skeptical to put it back on.  After all, I didn't need it and had no incentive to upgrade.  Now in order to jump up (legally, I might add) to Visual Studio .NET 2005 I need Service Pack 2, and I'm wondering if anyone has relevant SP experience they are willing to share.

A lot of the "issues" people run into are because of various security features, particularly Windows Firewall, that get turned on by default in SP2.  We've upgraded a ton and haven't had any real issues if you just go to the Control Panel and disable the Windows firewall.

There are distributions with sp2 built in.  I personally hate installing the sp after installing XP or XP sp1.  However if I must I do it asap before installing software.   It's well documented that SP2 breaks alot of shit.
