We Had are biggest turnout ever at Blue Bell with 38 people. I played Boomerman Splashing red and finish the rounds of swiss 4 wins 1 loss and 1 draw.
Round one I played against Blue, Black, Red Grim Long, He combo out on me game one. Game two I won, I think swinging with creatures, and game three I got really lucky he played first, drop a land and pass the turn and during my upkeep he Ancestral Recall himself. I drew and I think I had Lotus, Academy, Mox, and another artifact and Salvenger, Thrist for Knowledge, Brainstorm, and another land. I drop Salvengers and cycle the lotus enough to play my Thirst for Knowledge which I think I drew into Fact or Fiction, Mox, and Trinket Mage, which alowed me to find spell bomb to combo off. First Turn Kill!!! I think I sb in after the first game a Fact or Fiction, 2 Blast, and 1 Crypt. I sb out the 2 Cunning Wishes, 1 Mana Leak, and 1 Pithing Needle. So I'm 1-0
Round Two I played agaisnt this blue, white, green deck that ran Grunts, Quirion Dryads, and Meddling Mages with blue as his main color. Both games I had complete control, he really was never able to do to much, maybe his draws were terible both games. My sb destroy him, bring in 3 Flametongues, 3 Blast, 1 Swords, 1 Disenchant, 1 Seal of Cleansing. I sb out 2 Cunning Wish, 1 Pithing Needle, 1 Mana leak, 1 Aether Spellbomb,1 Tormod's Crypt, 1 Salvagers, 1 Thrist for knowledge. I really was never sure what he was really playing, because he never really did to much both games. So now I'm 2-0
Round Three I Played agaisnt Stax. He won the dice roll and put a solid lock on turn one with, Chalise at zero, Sphere of Resistance, and Crusible. That was pretty insane i must say. I sb in 1 Disenchant, 2 Seal of Cleansing, 1 Rack and Ruin, and took out 1 Sensei's Divining Top, 1 Aether Spellbomb, and 2 Cunning Wishes. I destroy him game 2 and three because he drew terible three multiple Smokestax without getting control of the board. So now I'm 3-0
Round four playing agaisnt Joe Davis Playing Gifts. I made a few play error both games and he won both with Empty the Warrens. I sb out 2 Cunning Wishes, 1 Salvagers, 1 Pyrite Spellbomb, 1 Pithing Needle, 1 Sensei's Divining Top. I sb in 1 Engineered Explostives, 3 Blast, 1 Tormod's Crypt, 1 Fact or Fiction. He out drew me, drawing better than me. So now I'm 3-1
Round Five playing agaisnt Memnarch. I think he wins game one. I sb out 1 Mana Leak, 1 Salvagers, 1 Thrist for Knowledge, 1 Aether Spellbomb, 2 Cunning Wish, 1 Sensei's Divining Top. I brought in 2 Seal of Cleansing, 1 Disenchant, 1 Rack and Ruin, 2 Blast, 1 Swords to Plowshares. Game 2 I combo off on him. Game 3, we went to time and I had just enough creatues out to kill him on turn five, so close. So now I'm 4-1
Round Six I Split since its pointless to play it. So now I'm 4-1-1
First round in the top 8, I had to play Joe Davis again. He won the dice roll and play first. He drops Mox Sapphire, plays Ancestral Recall, and drops Library of Alexandria. He out drew me and combo off five or six turns later. I sb the same stuff in agaisnt him, as I did in Swiss. I got Library out first turn, second and third game and ended up winning drawing tons of cards. I made so many mistakes forgetting to use drain mana and not playing cards at the right time. It was such a long match I don't feel like going into detail.
The other three players and me decided to split. I had a blast playing there. Here is the deck list that I played there.
Artifacts 14 2 Aether Spellbombs 5 Moxes 1 Black Lotus 1 Sol Ring 1 Engineered Explostives 1 Tormod's Crypt 1 Pithing Needle 1 Pyrite Spellbomb 1 Sensei's Divining Top
Blue 27 4 Force of Will 4 Mana Drain 3 Mana Leak 4 Trinket Mage 4 Brainstorms 4 Thrist for Knowledge 2 Cunning Wish 1 Time Walk 1 Ancestral Recall
White 3 3 Auriok Salvagers
Land 16 3 Tundra 3 Volcanic Island 3 Polluted Delta 2 Flooded Strands 1 Tolarican Academy 1 Library of Alexandria 3 Island
SB 15 1 Swords to Plowshares 1 Fact or Fiction 1 Echoing Truth 1 Disenchant 1 Rack and Ruin 1 Pyroblast 2 Red Elemental Blast 2 Seal of Cleansing 3 Flametongue Kavu 1 Tormod's Crypt 1 Engineered Explosives
Flametongues Kavu are so amazing against any sort of fish deck. The main reason why I ran the Engineered Explosives, in the sb is to is for Empty the Warrens. With the help of Trinket Mages its so easy to find them. The three Blast really help agaisnt any blue base deck. The seal of cleansing were mainly for Null Rod and Oath which I didn't see a single one all day. Rack in Ruin in place of it would have been much better. Fact or Fiction is a tutor target, and also gets sb in any blue base control deck. The single Echoing Truth was adding as a wish target agaisnt Empty the Warrens. The Tormod's Crypt was in the sb, for any deck that uses the gy alot. I would have like to fit a Ormi's Chant and a Misdirection in the sb but didn't have the room for it. Splashing red makes the sb so much stronger but a weaker mana base. There weren't many Wasteland decks running around so it was a good call. This is a great deck its worth a shot. I won a Timewalk over the the summer playing this deck there.

Yes that was the First time I ever combo off on turn one with bomberman. You just got unlucky and happen to be the one. I see why you decided to play Ancestral turn one, because I could have drop Academy or Saphire or Lotus or even played Time Walk and had double blue open or a better chance of drawing a Force of Will or even a Mana leak and playing a draw spell to dig up a counter. If that was your only mana source and you needed mana, the Recall draws into mana and it was the right choice. Most people don't like to play Recall with out having some sort of protection for it. But anyways your a very nice guy and was a good sport about it. If it makes you feel any better I made a ton of mistakes later in the tourament my brain started to drain on me. Its hard for me to Focus 6 rounds since I have a short atention span. I think the other top 4 deck your missing is AJ playing Intution AK Combo.

This is crap. I outplayed you, not outdrew you. I beat you game two through Engineered Explosives, Tormod's Crypt, and active counters. Sounds like you outdrew me there.

Joe, quit the bitching, yes you did out play me, I made more mistakes, so yes you out played me. I should have Trinket Mage up Explostives over Spellbomb, Since I can counter Tinker, but i cant stop the storm unless I have infinite counters. But how did I out draw you, you got out early Ancestral Recall both games and Gifts, when I didnt see my Ancestral Recall both games and you did. You also luck out in the t8 you have first turn Library 2 of the 3 games and the one game you didnt have library out first turn you top deck it. I dont know how my deck beat yours in the top 8 I made a ton of mistakes. Gifts is hard match up for me, I have to fight the whole way threw. When I fact or fiction why did you put the blast, drain, island in the same pile and only a thirst and force in the other pile. Of course im taking the pile that has more counters plus it was a bigger pile. Plus I had active Library so you might have gottin me off Library if I had to use Force pitching a card. Sticking Force along with another blue card in the same pile was not a good call either.

The Fact is Mike is that you did out draw joe games 2 and 3, but still got outplayed in the top 8. Also you should of went into more detail about your match with him and show everyone on these forums how bad you are and how slow you play. For as long as you been playing the deck and how well you've done, I have never seen a slower player, I bet if there was a real judge at the tournement and not just the judges on 0-2 Drop that play in the event, that during the swiss you'd have to be watched for how god damn slow you play. Back to the detail you didn't write in the report (Btw terrible Report next time try to be a normal person or learn to Justify it correctly), in game two against joe. You had the kill on the board, but since you thought that Joe tormod's crypt, could get rid of your lotus after you pop it, with out you responding by IDK maybe using Salavagers to get it back........ How bad are you, if you thought you couldn't respond to Tormods crypt, by getting back your Lotus. Or maybe you thought that since you had an Explosives at 0, that you your lotus would go in the graveyard after you blow that up and him somehow still have his Crypt out ready to use. If you didn't know by now that he would have to respond to you activating it, which you mean that your Lotus isn't in the graveyard yet, then again it looks like you don't know how to respond since of the first point i brought up before. Instead of winning, you play at your snail like pace, and drag out the game like another hour, since Joe would never concede to a terrible player like yourself. And since joe knows this, he always has a chance of beating you no matter how far ahead you are of him. I hope I've helped become a better player, since god only knows you needed it. And I also hope i never have to play you since i might have to kill myself since you play so god damn slow. ~Parisdirt Ordinarily newer users get a welcome and a link to the rules on their first offense, but you shouldn't need to read TMD's posting guidelines to know that civility is expected on all internet forums. 1st off gentlemen the negativity, relax we are people not just players.
Postive points: A win is a win, so I will say congrats Midknight. Also I thought your SB was tight well done
Other thoughts: ( I will say honestly no disrespect intended ) I was surprised you beat Joe . He is probably the best Gifts player I know ( though I don't know many good players unfornately but nevertheless ) It seemed like You are still learning your deck Midknight which is fine. I know I myself was unfamiliar on how to take it apart ( meaning beat it ). This was my fault a lack of preparation on my part.
All be Well

Many other posters in this thread besides Stax0-2Drop are on the verge of verbal warnings for the direction this discussion has taken. Any further arguing will make those warnings happen, and this thread will be summarily closed.

I'm not out to flame on anyone. I have played in two Power 9 event that starcity had within the last year. I have proof of this on www.Starcitygames.com web site, look me up my name is Michael Knight and change the date to go back to atlease June and you will see. I have also played in other huge events, Grand Prix Legacy in Philladeliphia and never had a single warning ever on playing to slow. The last huge type one tourament, I played in was up in Rochester with over 100 people last June and I finish 24th. I have had other people, not just Joe Davis ask me to play alittle faster, so im not saying that I dont play slow. If you guys think I play to slow, I have play many others over the years, play alot slower than me. Yes after the tourament my friends told me about if I blow the Explostives that was set at zero, in responce to Joes Tormods Crypt me, I could have activated Salvagers to return Black Lotus back to my hand. I wasn't sure how it would turn out so I deceided to just play control returning spell bomb playing it sac it to draw a card and repeating itself. Also using the library to out draw Joe. I rarely have people asking me to play fast. In the area I live in Hershey Pa there isn't many Vintage players, so I dont get much testing in before touraments. Sometimes I test on Magicworkstation but with working in electrical construction, after I get home from work i'm ususally to tired. So I really only have the weekends to focus on magic. Im far from perfect, you know I am human just like the rest of you, it just hurts to see all these people flame on me. I think this will be my finial tourament report ill ever write. I know my grammer suck, I was actrally in learning support class in school for English and Spelling. I thought you guys would like to see my tourament report but after all this probably never again. If you people out there are worry about playing agaisnt me, probably once my girl friend and I move out and have kids I won't have the time anymore to play. Thanks to the few that support me.

I hope that you will work to improve your grammatical skills. If nothing else, use new paragraphs to mark a shift in ideas -- a long string of unrelated sentences becomes very difficult to read or understand.I'm not out to flame on anyone. I have played in two Power 9 event that starcity had within the last year. I have proof of this on www.Starcitygames.com web site ,; look me up . My name is Michael Knight . and cChange the date to go back to at _lease June and you will see. I have also played in other huge events, such as Grand Prix Legacy in Philladeliphia , and never had a single warning ever on playing to o slow ly. I'll stop here because I just wanted to give you an example of how some of your writing could be improved. Part of why your post is difficult to read is that you jump from topic to topic. You start by taking about how you don't stall. You continue to discuss something involving a Tormod's Crypt. Then you talk about being human like the rest of us. Finally, you share your plans to reproduce. All in one single paragraph. In general, these concepts would be better discussed in their own paragraphs. And preferably not in a forum discussing Magic tournament results.

By all accounts the bomberman deck is made to draw a bunch of cards so if he out drew you than it is expected. the is what the deck is disigned to do.
~This is Shawn, I was right there, and can see both sides of this. I can understand that Joe would be upset if Mike wa PURPOSELY playing slow, but he wasn't stalling and he was trying to win. Which he did, that is why you guys play the game, TO WIN. I also know that the match lasted approximately 2 hours or so. Which is a long game, but there were no time limits on the top 8, so there is no fault to Mike for trying his best to win and not lose.
For all the people who are bashing Mike here, My question is that if he's such a terrible player, THAN WHY WAS HE IN THE TOP 8 AND YOU WERE NOT? Did he get lucky all day? How about all the other times he has done well? Were his draws perfectly lucky then? I Respect Joe Davis as a good magic player, and he played GIFTS, a capable deck. I noticed in the rounds that both players would attempt to combo off, only to be stopped by the other players counterspells. hmmmmmm....... So you are all crying about 2 control decks taking a long time to play? I agree with Mike that he is NOT an amazing player, but he is there to have fun and try to win prizes just like everyone else. If anyone wants to bah him, why don't you do it at the magic table, you whiny girs. Oh, an im not going to cry to my mommy if you don't lioke this post. WAH.
I'm at something of a loss as to why you decided that continuing an argument that everyone in this thread was asked to stop participating in was appropriate. Like Stax0-2Drop, you will receive a Full Warning for your decision to ignore moderator instructions and flame other users. Please read the rules linked in Stax0-2Drop's post if you plan on continuing to be a part of these forums. -DA
