We seem to have a good track record pre-empting Wizards' mechanics. First, it was Cascade/Replicate. I was looking over some past cards when I discovered that Ephraim invented the Suspend mechanic. Take a look.

How is fading the same as suspend?

With this card you can destroy it or sacrifice it, with suspend you cant.

Yes,Tarmogoyf is probably better than Chameleon Colossus, but comparing it to Tarmogoyf is like comparing your girlfriend to Carmen Electra - one's versatile and reliable, the other's just big and cheap.(And you'd run both if you could get away with)

Obviously he didn't create the mechanic word for word.  Functionally, it is the same.  Cast a spell, it does nothing for X turns, and it "goes off" during your upkeep.

Actually I believe Ric_Flair invented it wayyyy back when he was calling it Delay. And it actually worked almost word-for-word like Suspend.

I thought it was me that came up with Delay but I could be wrong. I actually searched but the old Delay threads seem to be gone.

Well I figured one of you ate the other one so it's pretty much the same thing at this point.

I assure you that I have not eaten Ric_Flair (or vica versa).

Still waiting for Wizards to use Filter. IMHO that is a mechanic with potential.

OK, Wizards were to first to come up with a Sorcery that was so badly designed they had to change it into an Enchantment.

Check out the new Oracle wording on All Hallow's Eve.

All Hallow's Eve
{2} {B} {B}
Sorcery
Remove All Hallow's Eve from the game with two scream counters on it.
At the beginning of your upkeep, if All Hallow's Eve is removed from the game with a scream counter on it, remove a scream counter from it. If there are no more scream counters on it, put it into your graveyard and each player returns all creature cards from his or her graveyard to play.

All Hallow's Eve now has the dubious distinction of being the only card to have its type errataed . . . twice.

Also . . . scream counters!
