is this necessary?  You can pay 2 more mana and gain double your life and only your life w/ beacon of immortality.

By turn 6, your life total is likely to be less than 10, anyway. And the difference between turn 4 and turn 6 is huge.

The thing about this spell is: I think the people that would value a life gain spell like this would also be people who wouldn't like it if their opponent also gained the life.  I think it's properly costed and all, but I'm not sure that Timmy, Johnny, or Spike would play it.

It is certainly strong. CooberP, whom I am sure almost none of you remember, wanted this made, shortly after Cunning Wish came out. Back in the days when Sligh was a big type one presence.
