The Myriad Games Yawg-Will-Less Vintage Tournament announcement for March 25th, 2007 can be found here.

Thank you to everyone who attended this special bonus event in our 2007 Vintage Tournament Series here at Myriad Games.

Oliver Beaumont won the Preregistration Bonus Dual Land.

Mike Bergeron won the Best Deck Name Contest with "I netdecked Oath, added Root Maze, so now it's called Team Mike Bergeron Oath, grats to Me! Also, Oli traded me Forcefield so it's now in my board, so it's now Root Maze Forcefield Mike Bergeron Oath of Druids!"

The Myriad Gear Challenge continued to be popular. I played many games and we gave away a bunch of Free Myriad Gear. Thanks to everyone who participated. Enjoy the Myriad Gear!

Pictures from this event are available here.

Our New Player Bonus Booster Pack was also appreciated. Each new player received a Free Booster Pack!

Every player that requested one received one of Sara's famous Myriad Games Magical Mana Cookies!

Sara Yarrington won the Tumblin' Dice Tournament. Matt Moroff came in 2nd. Congratulations to our Tumblin' Dice Champions!

Our Best Tournament Report contest is underway. All tournament reports posted in the Tournament Announcement section of The Mana Drain by April 1st will be eligible to win. Reports must include Myriad Games in the title. Style points will be awarded for catchy titles, amusing anecdotes, and interesting coverage. Super style points will be awarded for good pictures from the event. Everyone is encouraged to respond to the tournament reports to let us know which you like best (you may PM myriadgames with comments if you cannot post directly to the Tournament Report forum). I will be the grand, august, final arbiter as to the final placement of reports. We may even award ancillary prizes if there are multiple reports that are deserving. Prizes will be reserved at Myriad Games and may be picked up the next time the winner(s) stop by. As reports are added, I will add handy links to the various tournament reports from the player's names in the final standings below.

Myriad Games will be hosting our next Vintage Tournament on April 14th!

As always, if you have any comments or suggestions about our events, please email us at vintage@myriadgames.com

Fun Event! You had to put up the funny pictures of me asleep inbetween rounds didnt you???

My thoughts: The format was much less broken, and playing it gave me more oppertunities to outplay my opponents in the regards that games were much less random. That being the case just b/c I had more chances to capitalize on opponents errors the amount of playskill required for me to play a deck was lower. The format without yawgmoth's will was extremely forgiving, and at times boring (again I was asleep as you can see in pictures)...

The format basically seemed like type 1 say 3-4 years ago when 4cc was good, because the fundemental turn was slower and though will was amazing back then it wasnt as good, oh and combo didnt really exist...

In short... No yawg will sent the format back 3-4 years in brokeness... The format was still very fun to play, and I enjoyed winning...

To describe the finals... omg boring... Each game was decided by who had an active library on turn 1... And game 5 was very very close, but he beat me the turn before he was going to die b/c of some horrible ancient ruins card combined with trike... that raced my pentavus...

Fun tourney!

From your comment, Whatever Works, is it safe to assume that no Yawg will vintage means Library is totally busted rather than really really good?

The metagame looks totally amazing. If I am in town the next time you hold one of these, I'm there making Dark Ritual work somehow.  Very Happy

Ya... Library = Busted...

Suprised Ichorid or Dragon didnt see more play... Ichorid especially... If it was played it would of probably won the tournement... I didnt prepare for it, and I can say frankly that my chances of beating it were likely 45/55 at the VERY best, and likely much worse... Though sadly w/o will my deck was better prepared for ichorid, and for fish.

Meta looks a lot better in paper then it really was... Good tourney, but I dont think to many people exactly heavily tested it... My deck was based off the very very first control slaver decks...

If I played the tourney again... I would of probably played workshop slaver, b/c it would of probably been dominant.

That looks like a very interesting field and a new metagame full of fresh possibilities. This is one I certainly would have liked to attend.

I think the meta would have been different if it was unilimited proxy.  Maybe.  Not many people have an Ichorid deck sitting around in thier trade binder.  Dragon is easier but, still, It could be tough getting the whole deck together if you don't have the peices.

I expected more Zoo/Threshold/ShopAgro/Fish type stuff.  Mixed in with a healthy scoop of Oath.

I have a Tourney Report to post, But I'm not sure what the procedure is right now.  Theres no Tournement Report Submission Forum anymore.... maybe a Mod can give me some instruction on the proper procedure to getting it posted?

Hoped to see 'Tog rear its enormous head Very Happy

...And where's that Turbo-Tutor-Tinker.dec everyone was talking about?

Oh, and Sensei, sensei could also be a decent deck-choice, but i suppose most people have no clue about how to build and play that deck.

Basic Users and up can post new threads in the results forum I think.

Interesting tourney, the general deck archtype breakdown seems very similar to what you would see at an event with will. Less control, Gifts in particular, but outside of that very normal.

Those are some interesting results to be sure.  I figured alot of ichorid/oath would show... I was half right.

It looks like everyone showed up with their fish-asskicking boots on :p

Virtually no fish in the tournament.  That definitely shocked me.  I'm not surprised at TMW top 8'ing, it seems to do alot better in a wide open format like this one sure would be.

If you hold another one of these Dan/Sara, I'll make every effort to go.  I was too tired from the previous day's myriad outing to show up to this one, but the tourney looked very interesting.

Thanks for posting these results.

CS took first and second.

...Everyone was talking about how tinker/DSC would just run down a format like this, which i think was a clear reference to something like T1T with tinker/DSC as the only kill backed by the usual disruption and an intu/AK draw-engine.

CS is not 100% based on tinker anyways, although it abuses the card more then any other deck i've ever seen, including the old type 2/extended decks named "Tinker" Wink
