For those of you coming to this Double Header Vintage tournament, here's a handy summary of nearby hotels. The LaQuinta and Holiday Inn are literally around the corner from Myriad Games, within easy walking distance. The Red Roof is about a half mile down the road.

The sites linked below are for the individual hotels and include a list of amenities and links to check availability and make reservations. Rooms are relatively affordable and very convenient to the store.

Red Roof Inn

La Quinta Inn & Suites

Holiday Inn

And just a reminder, if you haven't been to Myriad Games before... We're very easy to get to, just a quarter-mile left off Exit 2 from I-93, just over the MA/NH border. Generally most of the drive to get here is highway.

We'll look forward to seeing everyone here for a great Vintage Double Header!

Less than a week until this awesome Myriad Games Back-to-Back Vintage Double Header Weekend!

A couple of important notes about these events.

Starting Times Updated
Our latest tournament (May 26th) finished in record time thanks to a slightly earlier start time. Please note that we will be adjusting our start times for tournaments in the future to ensure that continues. Being prepared with your decklist ahead of time and preregistering go a long way toward ensuring a smooth tournament. Emailing us or calling us with a list of cards you know you'll need also helps, rather than scrabbling for them on site that day. For this Myriad Games Back-to-Back Vintage Double Header Weekend, registration will begin at 10 AM and decklists will be due at 11 AM. Failure to turn in your decklist on time may result in a first round game loss for delaying the tournament. If you are unable to arrive until after the tournament has already begun, we will afford you the opportunity to enroll by accepting a first round match loss. Please prepare your decklist the night before and give yourself plenty of travel time to arrive before the start of the event. If you need to pick up singles and/or make modifications for your decklist, plan on showing up at 10. If you're all prepared the night before, plan on being here by 10:30. That will allow enough of a cushion to make sure you're here by 11 AM. The tournaments should each begin at 11:30 AM.

June 1st Banned / Restricted Update
These two events will take any June 1st Banned / Restricted changes into account. Please check www.magicthegathering.com on Friday, June 1st for the updates. This will be the same format as the rest of the summer events, so these two events will be your first chance to prepare and test for the upcoming season.

Make plans now to come join in the fun!

To make our Free Vintage Drafts even more crazy fun, we'll be including Unhinged with the usual mixed packs from The Dark / Antiquities / Arabian Nights / Legends. These events will begin during the penultimate round of Swiss and are open to the first 8 players who sign up.

For the record I personally am not a fan of the time change for these tourneys.  Much of your player base drives 1-2 hours and for me personally, planning to be there for 10:30 is a heck of alot harder than planning to be there for 11:30.  Maybe the general myriad tourney-goers will like this change, but I wish you took a poll before this to know for sure =/

Anyway, I still <3 Myriad tourneys and will try to make this.  I was originally planning to celebrate my 25th birthday at foxwoods (taking some of vintage's finest with me :p) but recent changes (I.E. me going to foxwoods earlier than planned and losing alot of $$$ Sad) mean that I'm leaning towards the myriad.

So while I'm not crazy about the sudden change in time and very strict enforcement of it, I will try to make this anyway and hope you guys have a good turnout.

Good luck.

Driving a couple of hours to arrive at 10 AM requires leaving at 8 AM, which does not seem unreasonable. Decklists should be prepared ahead of time which will drastically reduce the likelihood of errors. An earlier start allows players that have to drive a couple of hours to arrive home earlier. This is notably important for those folks who need to get home at a reasonable hour, on Sunday especially, to be ready for work or school the next day.

This change was announced prior to our last event and well advertised prior to this coming weekend. With adequate planning, this should improve the overall tournament experience. Feedback thus far has been generally positive.

And yes, Dave, you'll be much less likely to lose money coming to Myriad - and you'll likely have more fun to boot!  Very Happy

Looking forward to seeing everyone here this weekend!

There were some notable changes to the Vintage Banned / Restricted List posted today at http://www.wizards.com/default.asp?x=dci/announce/dci20070601a.

These will be in effect for our events this weekend, Saturday June 2nd, and Sunday June 3rd.

We'll look forward to seeing everyone here at Myriad for the first exploration into this brave new world of Vintage!

Well, I think I'm going to have to make the decision to stay home.  I have no desire to play a format with 4 gush.

If things change, and we don't play with the new B&R update (it doesn't go in to effect until the 20th anyway) I'll make it down.  But otherwise I'll stay home.

It doesn't seem unreasonable to change it with little warning, since the announcement was only made today anyway.

It's understandable that the new format may be unattractive to some players, just as the old format was unattractive to some players. This tournament will be using the June 1st Banned / Restricted List as originally and previously announced. We already have a ton of people preregistered and we're looking forward to a great weekend of Magic!

Seriously, I can't agree with Ben's choice.  This is exciting.  I can't wait to see if the format is broken wide open on such very short notice.  Cya in a few hours.

I apologize to anybody it offends, but I just really don't want to play a format with four gush...  Maybe if I didn't have to travel, and I had a week to rebuild my deck choice, but as it stands it's not even financially feasible for me to go, and I wouldn't enjoy it.

Next Myriad though, I'll try my best.

No offense taken and we certainly want to make sure everyone that plays will enjoy themselves.

We have 39 players for today's event and it started right on time (pairings went up shortly after 11:30).

Thanks to everyone for coming. We're having a blast!

Results should be posted at the beginning of this coming week. There's still time to register for Day 2 of the Back-to-Back Vintage Extravaganza. Simply give us a call at 1-800-459-5516.

Looking forward to a great rest of the weekend!

Top 4 is now in.  They accepted a four way split.

Scott Hughes - Staxless Stax
Steve Houdlette - Staxless Stax
Brian Rozzerio - AK Tendrils
Eric Dupis - GAT

I am obviously sufficiently happy despite scrubbing out.
