I know my opponent has a Stifle in hand and I have a Memory Jar in play.  My hand is Misdirection, Chain of Vapor, and Brainstorm.  He has a Chalice in play.

Can I sacrifice Jar and in response to his Stifle, Chain of Vapor his Chalice and Misdirect Stifle to the copy trigger of Chain of Vapor?

chain of vapor does not have a 'copy trigger.'  When a spell resolves you perform all actions in the order in which they appear in the text. So after the item is bounced, as part of the resolution of chain of vapor, your opponent may copy the spell by sac'ing a land.

Also please post oracle text in the future.

Return target nonland permanent to its owner's hand. Then that permanent's controller may sacrifice a land. If the player does, he or she may copy this spell and may choose a new target for that copy.

Remember, Stifle can only stop abilities that have a colon in them or abilities that start with "when," "whenever," or "at."

If the ability does not meet one of those criteria, then it cannot be targetted by stifle.

Obviously I don't know exactly what was going on except that Chalice wasn't set at 1.  I'll guess it was at zero.  As such, you could have played a Mox (or something) to trigger the Chalice, sacced the Jar in response to the Chalice trigger, and Misdirected the Stifle to the Chalice.  Jar would resolve, the Chalice would be countered, and you'd get a Mox!  You could change things around depending on how the Chalice was set too.

Or if you had a fetchland in play that you didn't need, you could have Misdirected to that.  That one's pretty basic, though, so you probably would have done that had it been available.
