The Myriad Games Vintage Tournament announcement for April 26th, 2007 can be found here.

Thank you to everyone who attended the fifth event in our 2007 Vintage Tournament Series here at Myriad Games.

Kyle Guillemette won the Preregistration Bonus Dual Land.

Travis Laplante won the Best Deck Name Contest for "If Rich Shay is Lucky, I Can Be Too"

The Myriad Gear Challenge continued to be popular. I played over a dozen games and we gave away a bunch of Free Myriad Gear. Thanks to everyone who participated. Enjoy the Myriad Gear!

Our New Player Bonus Booster Pack was also appreciated. Each new player received a Free Booster Pack!

Every player that wanted one received one of Sara's famous Myriad Games Magical Mana Cookies!

The Vintage Draft (including cards from The Dark, Legends, Antiquities, and Arabian Nights) was thoroughly enjoyed once again. Of the eight players who participated, these were the Top 4:

   1st  Andy Probasco
   2nd  Rich Shay
   3rd  Andrew Fox
   4th  Kyle Guillemette

We'll be continuing this Free side tournament at the first event of our Back-to-Back Vintage Double Header Weekend on Saturday, June 1st.  If you have cards from those four sets that you'd like to donate to diversify the card pool, please bring them to Myriad Games.

The Tumblin' Dice Tournament was another enjoyable Free side event. Of the eight players, these were the Top 4:

   1st   Andrew Fox
   2nd   Adam Dodge
   3rd   Marc Tuttle
   4th   Ryan Marek

Congratulations to our Tumblin' Dice Champions!

Our new bonus Magic Memento prizes were appreciated by all. Every player had the opportunity to select a card from our special binder including some cool little Magic singles. These Magical Mementos are designed to serve as a cool keepsake from the event. Feel free to have your opponents sign them, customize them with the date of the event, or just keep them in your binder as a reminder of a good time at a great Vintage event. Cards selected by players from this event included:

Earthquake (Portal)
FOIL Ashnod's Coupon
Soldier Token (Unglued)
Zombie Token (Unglued)
German BB Lost Soul

Our Best Tournament Report contest is underway. All tournament reports posted in the Tournament Announcement section of The Mana Drain by June 1st will be eligible to win. Reports must include Myriad Games in the title. Style points will be awarded for catchy titles, amusing anecdotes, and interesting coverage. Super style points will be awarded for good pictures from the event. Everyone is encouraged to respond to the tournament reports to let us know which you like best (you may PM myriadgames with comments if you cannot post directly to the Tournament Report forum). I will be the grand, august, final arbiter as to the final placement of reports. We may even award ancillary prizes if there are multiple reports that are deserving. Prizes will be reserved at Myriad Games and may be picked up the next time the winner(s) stop by. As reports are added, I will add handy links to the various tournament reports from the player's names in the final standings below.

The tournament finished in record time thanks to a slightly earlier start time. Please note that we will be adjusting our start times for tournaments in the future to ensure that continues. Being prepared with your decklist ahead of time and preregistering go a long way toward ensuring a smooth tournament. Emailing us or calling us with a list of cards you know you'll need also helps, rather than scrabbling for them on site that day. For the upcoming Myriad Games Back-to-Back Vintage Double Header Weekend on Saturday, June 2nd and Sunday, June 3rd, registration will begin at 10 AM and decklists will be due at 11 AM. Failure to turn in your decklist on time may result in a first round game loss for delaying the tournament. If you are unable to arrive until after the tournament has already begun, we will afford you the opportunity to enroll by accepting a first round match loss. Please prepare your decklist the night before and give yourself plenty of travel time to arrive before the start of the event. If you need to pick up singles and/or make modifications for your decklist, plan on showing up at 10. If you're all prepared the night before, plan on being here by 10:30. That will allow enough of a cushion to make sure you're here by 11 AM. The tournaments should each begin at 11:30 AM.

As always, if you have any comments or suggestions about our events, please email us at vintage@myriadgames.com

Hurray for Salvagers dominance! I'm glad it is doing as well as I thought it would.  Salvagers only tough matchups were gifts/combo related and Mindcensor shores up those matchups very nicely.

The rest of the top 8 really shows how hard Flash and Ichorid changed the field.  Every deck either runs Leyline or is a graveyard hate deck.

"After these years of arguing I've conceded that Merchant Scroll in particular can be an exception to this rule because it is a card that you NEVER want to see in multiples, under any circumstances. Merchant Scroll can be seen as restricted in a way because should you have 2 in a hand, only one is really useful (that is, only one can get Ancestral)."

It also stops redundant Ichorid creatures and tokens.
No more multiple Bridge tokens, and increased difficulty casting a Dread Return.
Will players start siding in 4x Leyline of the Void and 4x Leyline of Singularity?!
I also just understood Oliver's deckname.

The problem with Leyline of Singularity is that Ichorid also plays Leyline of the Void. That means if you drop Singularity and Void and they drop Void... that's not exactly tech. This has actually been mentioned in the SCG forums a while back as a way for Ichorid to BEAT Leyline of the Void. The idea was if the opponent drops Void, the Ichorid player drops Void and Singularity. Obviously this is impossible to pull off consistently and was immediately dismissed.

Yes indeed, this was an interesting metagame.

Hopefully Oliver will be so kind as to elucidate how Leyline of Singularity played for him throughout the day.

Sadly, I didn't get to test the Singularity plan at all, as I did not play against any decks for which it would be boarded in.
Just to elaborate, the responses so far are accurate in what it was for, although it can also shut of the Hulk kill that uses Kiki Jiki. It also is much easier for me to cast after turn zero, plus it pitches to force and misdirection when required.
It may not be better than Leyline of the Void, but I felt it was worth a try. I am still going to try it, and see how it goes in the next Myriad tournament next week.

Congratulations to everyonr who made top 8 this time. Hope to see everyone next weekend at Myriad for another fun filled weekend.
