Does anyone know of any software or place to make/get card images that are actual size for proxies? I found "Magic set editor" but was wondering if there was anything else out there?

Turns out, believe it or not, Wizards actually does not like the distribution of high-resolution, actual-size scans of real cards.  MiseTings had a thread, briefly, with proxy-ready images of certain cards which got a cease-and-desist and some fairly aggressively legal action from Wizards without much delay.

In other words, no, there isn't any copyright-infringing archive of convincing spoiler images sitting out there just a peeled-off foil land and a high-quality inkjet away from a pile of convincing counterfeits.  Or if there is, you can bet nobody is going to link it on a public forum.

However, for testing purposes you can go to essentialmagic.com and others and C/P the images into word.  They aren't exact as a cut out, but something like 3.75 x 2.64 will fit in a sleeve so you can put together a proxy gauntlet.

I use MTGGenerator. If you have MWS images up to date, you can basically have this application take a MWS deck file and create a card image for those cards.

Woe to him who peels his foil lands when there are foil Chimney Imps to be had.  Also, it wasn't strictly scans of cards.  Getting high-res scans of cards is trivial; you just do it yourself, or ask someone with the cards to do it.  It was proxy cards made with a perfect (and possibly genuine) Photoshop template that brought the legal trouble.

Anyway, everyone knows that the real proxy hotness is drawing your own, like vroman.

I have some proxies that are actually photo copies of originals, very high quality.  The backs were left blank so that he wasn't accused of forgery.  I have never had a problem playing them as long as the sleeves are very opaque, but haven't played them at and major tourneys.  I think Mirkwood in Washington St. was the biggest place I have used them.

One of the best places to get high quality proxies is right off magicthegathering.com.  Go to gatherer and type in what you want.  then right click and save as.  now just resize it in photoshop and print it.  They are only 72 dpi, so there is no way they can be mixed up with real ones.  I print 9 off at a time on 8 1/2 x 11 full sheet sticker paper, cut em out with an exacto knife, and then stick em on peeled foils.
