Hi

I am new in this forum.
I am a Vintage player of Chile.
With the appearance of Lorwyn, I have been testing a deck that has given good results me:

// NAME: 9 Sphere Stax (9SS) there is no a better name for this deck, but I must say that LotusHead deserves the recognition.

// Lands
    1  Tolarian Academy
    1  Strip Mine
    1  Ghost Quarter
    4  Wasteland
    4  Mishra's Workshop
    4  Mishra's Factory
    3  Ancient Tomb
    3  Urborg, Tomb of Yawgmoth

// Creatures
    1  Karn, Silver Golem

// Spells
    1  Mox Emerald
    1  Mox Jet
    1  Mox Pearl
    1  Mox Ruby
    1  Mox Sapphire
    1  Black Lotus
    1  Sol Ring
    1  Trinisphere
    4  Sphere of Resistance
    4  Thorn of Amethyst
    4  Crucible of Worlds
    4  Phyrexian Totem
    4  Smokestack
    4  Bottled Cloister
    4  Thoughtseize
    2  Extirpate

// Sideboard
SB: 1  Razormane Masticore
SB: 1  Duplicant
SB: 1  Platinum Angel
SB: 3  Triskelion
SB: 3  Tormod's Crypt
SB: 3  Powder Keg
SB: 3  Pithing Needle

Basically, the idea is to control with Sphere of Resistance, Thorn of Amethyst and TriniSphere and obvious Smokestack, and the win condition is via Mishrás Factory, Phyrexian Totem and Karn, Silver Golem.

Sorry but my ingles is not very good as to explayar my ideas as I wanted it.

what I can mention is that versus GAT the result is very favorable for 9SS since I have won all 2-0 with SB.

thanks

I understand that the Totem is a win condition, but isn't there a better card you could use?  After you've locked down your opponent, the win is irrelevant (Factories shine here), it seems like you could even switch the Totems for another ManLand (the Factories from Mirrodin perhaps).

The reason by that there am including Phyrexian Totems, is because they have the advantage to generate black mana to play Thoughtseize of first turn, and to leave in game a potential creature 5/5.

Nevertheless, I could replace one Phyrexian Totem by Cabal Pit, with the objective to eliminate the annoying creatures, like for example: Gaddock Teeg, Meddling Mage, Dark Confidant, Goblin Welder, etc.  thus conserving, the possibility of generating a black mana and obtaining sinergy with Crucible of Worlds.

The idea is:

Turn 1: Mishra's Workshop => Sphere of Resistance, Thorn of Amethyst or or ideally Trinisphere.
With this, we assured an effective lock.

otherwise

Turn 1: Black mana/Mishra's Workshop => Phyrexian Totem => Thoughtseize.
for a brutal disruption.

the others are the one of typical stax.

Rich Meyst worked on a deck that was slightly like this, Smallpox was the breakout card that he ran.  With Phyrexian Totems smallpox gets to be very good, and with crucible losing a land is no bother.  I would suggest running some as it destroys gat and alot of other matchups.
