The thing is, you're running around 26 lands (most likely), a full set of SoLoMoxen, plus Chalice, Bob, Spheres, and (potentially) Shaman.  If you're focusing on just locking them down, then you don't need to worry about Titan, Trike, Duplicant, etc (which means not worrying about flipping them over and taking a lot).  I've been running Bobs for a while and haven't had any major issues (you should be able to lock down and either start swinging and win, or get rid of your own Bob, before it kills you).  Options like Edicts and DarkBlast also help get rid of your own guys.

I finally got to test this a little (2 or 3 card difference from previous list, plus actual SB)
Mostly I tested against GAT and Bomberman (because my teammates suck at piloting my other netdecks) and The Gilded Claw is still as fun as it ever was.

I found room for 2 Thorns, 4 Sphere's and 1 3Sphere, managed to keep Crop Rotation, Mox Monkey, Karn, and Duplicant.
I WISH I could get Intuition #3, but the deck is pretty tight.

The Guilded Claw (originally built by D.Carp, played by pretty much only me since it's inception (to my knowledge))

1 Mox Sapphire
1 Mox Ruby
1 Mox Jet
1 Mox Emerald
1 Mox Pearl (perhaps this could be Mox Diamond?)
1 Sol Ring
1 Mana Crypt
1 Mana Vault
1 Black Lotus
2 Gilded Lotus
1 Darksteel Ingot
4 Mishra's Workshop
3 City of Brass
3 Gemstone Mines
1 Tolarian Academy
1 Bazaar of Baghdad
1 Mishra's Factory
1 Urborg, Tomb of Yawgmoth
3 Wasteland
1 Strip Mine

4 Goblin Welder
1 Sundering Titan
1 Triskellion
1 Gorilla Shaman
1 Karn, Silver Golem
1 Memnarch
1 Duplicant

1 Vampiric Tutor
1 Time Walk
2 Intuition
1 Ancestral Recall
1 Demonic Tutor
1 Crop Rotation
1 Tinker
1 Memory Jar

4 Sphere of Resistance
2 Thorn of Amethyst
3 Crucible of Worlds
1 Trinisphere
1 MindSlaver.

SB: at the moment
1 Leonin Abunas - Hate has been removal based, and less bounce based recently. (Hurkl's/Rebuild)
3 Chalice of the Void
2 Triskellion - for Welder Superiority and Flash matchup
1 Duplicant*
3 Red Elemental Blast
2 Viashino Heretic
3 Leyline of the Void*

I have permanantly removed Chalice of the Void from the maindeck, mainly because the NorCal meta is so hardcore, that the top players can totally play around it (so I bring it in vs Flash, Gush.dec piloted by people not named Web or Luis, etc).

Dupe and Leyline in the board are totally up for revision. Everything and anything is welcome for debate.

Platz? DSC? Possessed Portal? Tormod's Crypt? suggestions?

Is anyone else dissatisfied with Chalice vs good players?

EDIT: Who has actually Pilloted this kind of deck, anyways?  To me, The Gilded Claw is Shop/Welder with Gilded Lotus and Intuition as it's trademarks.

I played the following list this weekend in a 40 people tournament and got a split for first/second place with it

the list:

So with no idea of the metagame, this is what i ran.
Main Deck:

4 Goblin Welder
3 Gorilla Shaman
4 Juggernaut
3 Magus of the Moon
2 Solemn Simulacrum (only had 2)
2 Triskelion

1 Black Lotus
1 mana crypt
1 Mana Vault
1 memory jar
1 Mox Emerald
1 Mox Jet
1 Mox Pearl
1 Mox Ruby
1 Mox Sapphire
1 Sol Ring
4 Sphere of Resistance
3 Sword of Fire and Ice
4 Thorn of amythist
1 Trinisphere
1 Umezawa's Jitte
1 wheel of fortune

4 Mishra's Workshop
6 Mountain
1 Strip Mine
1 Tolarian Academy
4 Wasteland
2 Ancient tomb

Sideboard:
4 Chalice of the Void
4 Leyline of the void
1 Razormane masticore
2 Shattering Spree
4 Viashino heretic

The tournament: (I didn't take notes, so people can correct me if i make mistakes

round 1 against control slaver. A friendly guy who said it was his first tournament.
game1: I saw my chances in the first game go down to almost zero when he played 2-3 welders in the first turns. I managed to get in some damage, but he got slaverlock
game2 i take him down to zero, scerwing his mane and going welder and shaman beatdown
game 3 my notes have me at 9 live ans him at 3. I won this game thanks to heretics constantly killing the targets he wanted to weld out with his lone welder and shaman killing his artifact lands and moxes.

Round 2 against Ichorid
game 1: He blows me away, i waste his bazaar, but he lays a second one
game 2 and 3 I WIN AGAINST ICHORID WITH WORKSHOP AGRO thans to leyline + some spheres and an occasionaly magus of the moon. he never had a chance to get rid of leyline.

Round 3 against Flash (kikki jikki kill)
game 1 I keep a hand that produces turn 1 juggernaut. He just kills me
game2 a few spheres + manadenial do the trick
game 3 he blows me out of the through some spheres.

round 4 against a very friendly guy playint some sort of storm combo tendrills deck
game 1 I win and i don't know what i'm playing against so i don't board anything. Only things i saw where a brainstorm and duress, both cost him 3 mana.
game 2 i discover he's playing powered as he tendrills me out of the game.
game 3 I side in chalice and leyline and enough spheres and beats take it home.

Round 5 against a very good player with oath with gushes
game 1 I get the sphere thing going, got a beater on the board and i draw some wastelands that slow him down, but welder + sphere + mountain and 3 wasteland in the graveyard is my board position when he starts to recover. I never draw another land and he goes gush gush gush will gush gush gush ...
game 2 i steal with some spheres on the board and wastelands. he's manascrewed and scoopes.
game 3 is very close, but creature + sword gets in there. protection from blue did the trick. ( a lot pf people tried to bounce a creature equiped with sofi that day. It's fun to see it coming and then saying 'I don't think so'  )

Round 6 ID with rector flash player. We play for fun and i don't get a chance. (form of the dragon is a [Censored])

TOP 8

round 1 against the flashplayer from the third round. I was his only game loss all day before.
game1: flash does his thing
game 2 and 3 i always keep him 1 mana short of casting anything relevant. Leyline + spheres = good enough

round 2 against .... the flash rector player from the ID. Yes the guy that beat me 2 times with his hands behind his back. So he's happy.
game1: spheres do their thing together with some wastelands
game 2 he tendrills me turn 1
game 3 leyline + spheres do their thing. He was hoping for a hardcast form of the dragon, but i killed him just in time.

Finals against workshop deck: metalworker + staff of domination combo in a stax suit with blue. We split so everybody could go home.

afterthoughts:

I hated drawing juggy accept one game when he was equiped with sofi and was dealing 9 per turn. I will propably keep them in there against stax wich i expected a lot but never saw until the finals.

Otherwise they would become solem 3-4, magus number 4 and maybe a karn, silver golem

the draw 7's i never played and always sided them out, just like the juggernauts. Accept the wheel I kept in against ichorid and flash when i was on the play, hoping to screw their openinghand by casting it turn 1.

Chalice in the board almost always came in on the play. But i'm satisfied with them in the board instead of maindeck

I won almost everygame in which I could lay down an t1 sphere, lost every game in which I  didn't see any spheres
