I have been doing some design work for a comic company, and wanted something else to break the monotony, so I designed a generic playmat for myself.  I have two blank white ones that I want to get done up, but I haven't decided yet what to do with em.

Left side allows you to use counters to keep track of your life and your opponents (99-0).  Above is for other counters, such as storm, floating mana etc, or you can use it for RFG stuff.  Right hand side is for library and graveyard.  I still havent decided if I'm gonna keep the mana symbols.

Cheers,

j

[edit]  Took everyone's advice and tweaked it a bit.

This looks pretty tight if you ask me.  As for changes, I'd make the mana symbols smaller and put them in one of the top corners.  Also, I tend to stack my library/grave on the left, as do most of my opponents it seems.

Are you thinking about producing any of these?

I get the impression that the mana symbols were included more for looks rather than functionality.  I think it would be better (as Grand Inquisitor seems to suggest) to put them off to the side somewhere so that dice or whatever can be placed on them to keep track of mana.  Looks good otherwise.

It would make sense to keep the mana symobls - maybe make them smaller. They are great for keeping track of floating colored mana...
Othervise I think it looks good...

You should make some with like bad-ass, baby-eating demons on them.  And fire.  Everybody likes fire.

My dream would be to get a large hi-rez version of puddnhead's unholy strength and put it on a mat.  I collect his art, and I think that is my favorite out of all of them.

I might make one for myself, but I really don't feel like being on the wrong end of Hasbro's legal Department.

ok, i took your advice and moved the mana symbols.  They are now up in the rfg zone where you can also use it to count mana if you need to.

You could include an indicator for floating colorless mana. Also, some of the life total numbers are hard to read with that pattern behind them (especially the '9's).
