Anyone pick it up yet? If so, how is it compared to GHII? Planning too soon for the Wii. I just want to try Through the Fire and Flames so I can get wrecked infinity times. For reference to what I'm talking about: Through the Fire and Flames on Expert http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=W4M7f4-bhbE

It's better than gh2 for the most part. The game is better overall, I'd say the song selection is equal.
The new battle option is also pretty cool.
As far as difficulty goes, Expert is about as hard as it is on GH2.
Dragonforce is stupid hard. Herman Li must be some sort of computer.

I think overall it's easier then GH2, even the last group of songs wasn't particularly hard. I guess it's debatable if Through the Fire and Flames is harder then Jordan, and I'd probably give it the nod because it's so damn long.

P.P.S. I now realise that it is possible that you have mistaken Holland for Iraq as neither have weapons of mass destruction.

The only thing more white than sitting around playing Guitar Hero on a friday night is attending a Klan meeting.

Phew, I thought I was pushing the stereotype by drinking while doing it. By the end of the night I'm smashed and totally sucking at the guitar. What's more rock and roll than that? j

You're just jealous because you cant even beat it on the Medium setting. I sit around on friday night with my six year old boy all the tiime and play this game and last time I checked, we weren't in a clan. Also, after playing this game more, I've noticed that the hammer-ons and pull-offs are much more forgiving than in 'GH2' and '80s'.

I played Guitar Hero 3 for the first time last week and now I'm seriously thinking about picking up the guitar. I know I'm a huge nerd, but my reasoning is that I already play magical cards, so why not make a serious push for the geek trophy? lol

It can't be worse than the hammer-ons and pull-offs for the original. The controls made a bunch of songs harder than they should have been (Killer Queen being the first one that comes to mind).

Right. Also Frankenstein. You have to actually release one button to activate another to correctly 'pull-off'. It's visually counter intuitive. And you can't cheat like you can in all the other versions by just pressing the right one. The original is probably the best one to learn on though. I'll give it that.

Frankenstein is harder because they make you play a sheet metal solo on the guitar. For the longest time, I died at that solo.

I'm finding it a little bit harder than the first two. I have only just started playing III, and I only got through about half the songs on expert in II, but I would say so far, a bit harder. I like the song selection for III best so far, and I haven't unlocked everything yet.

GHIII is so awesome. Scott Limoges and I rented it and stayed up all night. We beat it but only on medium which isn't a spectacular feat but the game is awesome. Does anyone know how to unlock the Devil Went Down to Georgia to play without battling the devil?

People who have it for 360 will be able to download all the boss battles as regular songs for free by the end of the month, according to www.scorehero.com .
