I had this idea while thinking about FoF and ToT.  It works really elegantly at 1 card, but I feel it's less interesting there than it would be if it provided actual card advantage.

At card filtering:
CARDNAME - 1U
Instant
Reveal the top three cards of your library.  Remove one of them from the game, then target opponent chooses one.  Put the chosen card into your graveyard and the other card into your hand.

I really like how you can do interesting things there because the cards all go to different zones.

I'd like to try and duplicate the feel of the card but in such a way that you get actual card advantage out of it.  Part of the reason why Fact or Fiction and Gifts Ungiven are more interesting than, say, Intuition, is because you get real card advantage out of it.  There are a ton of 1CC and 2CC library manipulation spells and they're sort of blah.

I've always wanted a card advantage spell at 2 mana in blue. What about something like the following:

Crying Wolf
1U
Instant
Reveal the top five cards of your library. An opponent chooses three of them; remove all chosen cards from the game. Put the remaining cards into your hand.

Murmurs from Beyond (from Saviors of Kamigawa)
2U, Instant - Arcane
Reveal the top three cards of your library. An opponent chooses one. Put that card into your graveyard and the rest into your hand.

It's pretty low-powered but it's similar to what you're aiming for.

Also, I'm thinking that the filtering version would be fine as a sorcery for U, as it's debatably worse than Sleight of Hand.  As long as nobody minds printing several really good cantrips in a row.

Would the original card be too good if it tutored for the 3 cards instead of top of library?  What if they were 3 different cards?

Also, to create a card advantage source, what about:
"Reveal the top six cards of your library.  Remove two of them from the game, then an opponent chooses two.  Put those cards into your graveyard and put the other two into your hand."

How about giving the opponent the ability to pay life/mana or something else in order to negate the draws? That'd probably make it alot weaker, but would balance basicly anything from tutoring to drawing.

That's very red, not blue.  It's a great idea, and I'd love to have been the one to develop Browbeat, that's not really the effect I'm going for here.
