I'm pretty much brand new to vintage. So in order to get use to how things work, I may play this list.

4 forbidden orchard
3 tropical island
3 underground sea
2 polluted delta
2 flooded strand
4 wasteland
1 strip mine

1 akroma, angel of fury
1 akroma, angel of wrath

4 accumulate knowledge
4 oath of druids
1 gaea's blessing
4 force of will
4 duress
1 ancestral recall
4 ponder
1 demonic tutor
1 vampiric tutor
4 brainstorm
1 echoing truth

1 mox pearl
1 mox ruby
1 mox sapphire
1 mox emerald
1 mox jet
1 black lotus
4 chalice of the void

Any advice would be appreciated! Thanks.

Hey man,

Right off the start I suggest reading articles and primers on starcitygames and this site.  They will teach you the basics of decks and some tricks as well.  There is a search function at the top right of the web site.  After that, I would suggest reading even more articles on "theories" of Magic, I know that I've read a tonne and they have helped me realize things I would not have otherwise known for years.  All the knowledge really helps in developing your ability to play Magic in and out of Vintage.

In terms of Oath?  it's a decent deck to start off with.  it shows you an introduction to how cards (forbidden Oarchard and Oath of Druids) can form a combination, to "cheat" and give you an advantage.  One of the biggest things about Oath is knowing WHEN to tap the Orchard.  For instance, if your opponent is playing a deck w/o creatures, you need the Orchard to enable the Oath, basic enough.  However, you really want to tap it somewhere from thier End of Turn to the end of your UnTap Phase so as to not allow them time to use cards and or effects that require them to sacrifice thier own creatures.

TideSpout is more demanding of the player.  It has a much better chance in the current state of Vintage, but you have to have a basic Oath understanding to move onto Tidespout as it plays much more like a "combo deck" than simply the Oath Forbidden Orchard combination of cards.

If I were you, I would simply look at tournament lists and try and find an Angel Oath build, and copy the list to start playing.  Don't worry about adding your own influences into the deck right yet, because you need to be an informed player with exp. with the deck before you can make changes that would be good for the deck.

Take care man.

Haunted.
