With most of the top decks cutting down on their artifact mana - (the diminished relevance of Null Rod is my proof)....and the increased use of fetchlands....does Armageddon have play now? My instinct tells me its still too damn slow but here's go... let me know what you think:

Deck
4 Samurai of the Pale Curtain
2 Kataki, War's Wage (sort of like a null rod, for moxen anyway)
4 Mother of Runes - helps Angel flip over
4 Exalted Angel
2 Stonecloaker (helps save the angel pre-morph, takes out key graveyard card)
3 Armageddon
4 Suppression Field - encourages opponents to play land
3 Damping Matrix - reinforces Suppression Field, stops fetch lands
3 Disenchant - oldie but a goodie
1 Balance - white wouldnt be so non-playable if this card was unrestricted.
4 Swords to Plowshares
3 Land Tax

4 Flagstones of Trokair - dig for plains post-geddon
1 Sol Ring
1 Mana Crypt
1 Mox Pearl
1 Black Lotus
1 Mox Diamond
1 Strip Mine
13 Plains

SB
4 Honor the Fallen
1 Disenchant
2 Demystify
1 Wispmare
1 Kataki, War's Wage
3 Silver knight
3 Aven Mindcensor

Sort of like Old-school Ernham-Geddon decks circa 1996 but all one color

Hi, it looks like a great list for legacy (Angel-stopmy / Angel-staxx?). In vintage, with 1st- and 2nd-turn kills, how are you going to survive?
You don't play counters, so you need to either disrupt (through duress-effects) or slow-down your opponent (through spheres).
Furthermore, I think this list is going to have some trouble with letting geddon resolve for the same reasons as above.

Why don't you look into Landstill? It used to play geddons if I remember correctly.

The  disruption for this deck can come down pretty early.  Imagine what a first or second turn Suppression field, damping matrix, Aven Mindcensor, Samurai of the Pale Curtain, or Swords to Plowshares will do to some of the more prevalent arch-types that include carrion feeder, goblin welder.  I dont pretend to think its a permanent insurmountable "lock", but I do think this deck has the disruption you speak of.  I could add a few Orim's Chant, may help Geddon resolve.

Kaiser,

Nice job on an innovative list.  I like it.  I'm all about people not playing Blue or Black and still having a strong deck.  You definitely have some disruption, regardless that it doesn't involve looking at your opponents hand and/or countering.  I would like to see more Suppression Field - ish cards come out so that we'd see more Sliver Flash decks instead of the Feeder/Fanatic type.  The biggest problems would obviously be any Oath deck, or a simple Tinker-Darksteel Colossus.

What about Disempower?  That could solve both of these problems.  It wouldn't hurt to cut some Mother of Runes or Exalted.  It seems that your Exalteds are more of a 'win more' card right now, am I right?

Hi, I am going to be blunt, so I apologize in advance. Your list is pretty bad for today's meta for a few reasons. Supression Field and Damping Matrix are not very good; almost all relevent creature abilities are triggered or static. They stop Welder, Trike, non-sliver Flash, and seldom seen cards (Top, Slaver) or cards that do not matter to you (Tormod's, new faerie from Shadowmoor). Only about half of Stax lists today run welder, the rest are Mono-Brown, regardless, Jugg to the face laughs at Matrix/Field. Flash will kill you in response to Field or Chain it before going off. They do not effect GAT, Oath, any form of storm, or Ichorid at all. You are running 7 cards main that will be useful a very small percent of the time.

Stonecloaker is awful. Most prevelant decks will bounce your Angel anyway; you are doing their job for them. Disenchant is not as good as it used to be. It should not be maindecked, and there are better options for the Side. Land Tax does nothing unless your opponent is ahead of you, and even then is only effective when planning to Armageddon. Armageddon is, as you said, too slow. If it would matter to the opponent, it would be countered anyway (you have no way to protect it).

Exalted Angel has (in my opinion) been improved; http://ww2.wizards.com/gatherer/CardDetails.aspx?&id=143730. The Angel's lifegain is alot of the times irrelevant. Hoofprints is harder to remove, and churns out a token every 4 turns. Aven Mindcensor MUST be main. There are too many scrolls out there to leave it in the side. It's also nice to fizzle a fetch every now and again.

I would say the closest thing to what you want would be some type of GW Fish. Example:

Creatures

4 Gaddock Teeg
4 Samurai of the Pale Curtain
3 Kataki, War's Wage
4 Tarmogoyf
4 Aven Mindcensor
4 Glowrider

Spells

4 Swords to Plowshares
4 Thorn of Amethyst
4 Skullclamp
2 Hoofprints of the Stag
1 Balance
1 Black Lotus
1 Lotus Petal
1 Mox Pearl
1 Mox Emerald

Lands

1 Strip Mine
4 Wasteland
4 Windswept Heath
4 Savannah
2 Flooded Strand
2 Plains
1 Forest

A list very similar to this just made top 4; http://www.themanadrain.com/index.php?topic=35587.0Very Happy

EDIT: Forgot to say, Gaddock Teeg is awesome. He cuts off such a large number of cards, it's amazing. No more Force, MisD, Gush, Chalice, Explosives, Tendrils, Gifts, FoF; the list just keeps going.

Thank Tiny Tim for the feedback - I recently played a similar deck at a tournament:

2 Goldmeadow Harrier - used at points but generally sub-par
2 Wild Mongrel – sub-par bust useful beatstick
4 Jotun Grunt - NEEDS TO BE Samurai of the Pale Curtain but a useful beatstick
3 Mind Sensor - MVP, screwed with fetches and tutors all day long (as long as I remembered he was in play)
4 Teeg - MVP sometimes I didnt even know how good.
4 Savannah lions
2 Hounds of Konda

4 Swords to Plowshares
3 Null Rod – useful
4 Root Maze – MVP
4 Thorn of Amethyst – Useful
2 Angel's Grace

1 Mox Pearl
1 Mox Emerald
1 Black Lotus
4 Wasteland
1 Strip Mine
1 Karakas
3 Plains
2 Forest
4 Savannah
4 Horizon Canopies

SB
4 Ray Revelation - useful
2 Angel’s Grace - disappointment
3 Kataki, War’s Wage - Useful
3 Jitte - Useful
3 Oxidize -

Based on your feedback  Ill be playing this deck:

Creatures

4 Gaddock Teeg
4 Samurai of the Pale Curtain
3 Ronom Unicorn
2 Kami of Ancient Law
2 Tarmogoyf (as good as he is, Pale Curtain is more necessary)
4 Aven Mindcensor
4 Glowrider

Spells
4 Swords to Plowshares
4 Thorn of Amethyst
3 Umazawa's Jitte - I like this better than skull clamp, it might stress the mana base too much though

Mana
3 Elvish Spirit Guides
1 Black Lotus
1 Sol Ring
1 Mana Crypt
1 Lotus Petal
1 Mox Pearl
1 Mox Emerald
1 Strip Mine
4 Wasteland
2 Windswept Heath
4 Savannah
2 Flooded Strand
3 Plains
1 Forest

SB
2 Ray Revelation
1 Ronom Unicorn
2 Kataki, War’s Wage
3 Oxidize
4 Honor the Fallen
3 Jotun Grunt

I figure the SB will give me additional options against STAX, aggro (add in more threats - swap out Thorns), Oath, Flash, Ichorid and Dragon
