A lot of people didn't know about this event because pastimes did really poor advertising for this event. I don't see why you would put up a mox and then don't mention it at all on your web site or anyone posting the info on these boards. I was lucky enough to find this out the day before the grand prix.
Mox ruby 20 players
6 rounds of swiss no cut
I was in the field and from what I saw this was most of the decks
4 ichorid 3 slaver 3 fish 1 stax 1 shop aggro 1 dawn of the dead 7 ?
My friend running ichorid won by tie breaks because everyone had dropped except 3 people and all at the end of this were 5-1. Pastimes did a horrible job of not only promoting this but they did a horrible job at running this. Even though my friend was able to win there was no cut and then to make matters worse the prize support was horrible. Mox for first then 12 packs for second. At least they decided to give us all play mats which they had stock piles of anyways.

I was playing Drain Tendrils and went 5-1 (losing to Kurt, the Ichorid player who ended up winning the event). Jacob (polynomial p) was also 5-1 with Slaver but beat Kurt. The three of us were within 1 percentage point on tie breakers. Swiss + 1 blows.
Congrats to Kurt, but I am still in shock and beating myself on the head, as he had NO SIDEBOARD (wtf) but just “got there” with insane G3 openings against people.

Cole is absolutely right on this. We had limited card pool and we was also running a bit behind on deck regs. I didn't mention he had 1 no side and 2 he wasn't playing serum powder and 3 he won the mirror against ichorid with a side board. We talked about this one the way home and how true magic players should play without a side LOL.

Wait, he went 5-1 with Ichorid with no sideboard? I don't even understand how that could possibly happen. Was there not a leyline in that entire room?

Heya, I was there, I was playing my TMWA build. I went 3-1-1 and dropped. Was there not a leyline in that entire room? Obviously there were if three out of the four decks were hated out. Pastimes did a horrible job of not only promoting this but they did a horrible job at running this. I agree. The promotion was aweful. I just happened to notice it on their event listings when I was bored one day and reading over it. I'm positive with all the Vintage players in the greater Indy area that more than 20 would have showed up. As for the torunament structure, the Swiss + 1 wouldn't have been so bad if there had been prizes for people beyond just the first two places. Even playsets of more mundane cards or foil cards of some kind for the top 8 would have made the tournament a lot more fun and interesting. As it was, it was pretty weak and gave no one an incentive to stick around and play out all the matches. 4 ichorid 3 slaver 3 fish 1 stax 1 shop aggro 1 dawn of the dead 7 ? As for the 7 missing decks, I can confirm that there were 2 Counter-top decks, 1 Belcher, 1 TMWA (mine) and 2 Keeper decks. So there's one I'm not sure what it was. Peace, -Troy

The prize support isn't stellar but it's not terrible. Everyone got a playmat, which you can pawn off to the dealers for $10 day 1, $8 when we got ours, or $5 at the end of the day. So you're really paying $10-15 for a mox, not bad. Not having a cut to top 4 is bad. I've never played in a swiss + 1 event before, but now I know not to in the future.
Most of our group played 4xExtirpate SB. The other Ichorid decks, with more conventional/optimized builds were hated out. Somehow the one with Street Wraith, no Powder, 5 Swamps, and no SB got there.

I got the list today. If you got the testicular fortitude to play this then here it is. I also think luck and skill is required.

could you post the sideboard? It's extremely important for an Ichorid deck.

could you post the sideboard? It's extremely important for an Ichorid deck. Apparently ichorid 3.0, isn't quite manaless anymore but now decides not to use a sideboard due to the "activity" of switching mainboard and sideboard cards out. 100% mathmatical now.

Somebody tell Chapin how counterbalance works?
"Of all the major Vintage archetypes that exist and have existed for a significant period of time, Oath of Druids is basically the only won that has never won Vintage Championships and never will (the other being Dredge, which will never win either)." - Some guy who does not know vintage....

I actually don’t mind playing against Ichorid. If every tournament I play in is swamped (get it) with Ichorid, I would either 1) not play DT or 2) tweak my SB strategy. With DT, I know when I choose to play the deck that I would likely scoop G1 on turn 3 vs Ichorid. The SB cards usually do the trick G2 since I’m on the play. It’s not autowin, and sometimes it’s a crapshoot, but I’m confident about G2. G3 is the nail biter. I actually had a good hand G3 in the last round (fetch, mox, mox, force, drain, mystical, extirpate) but he had a better opening…sadly because of Street Wraith.

That seems fairly standard for Pastimes, from my experiences of GenCon... I double checked ahead of going to Indy that there was simply no reason to take type 1 with me, then find that actually there is a tournament for it. At least for GP Philly we got it posted up here with at least a week's notice, not really enough but we managed to get 40 for it.
