Despite the B/R changes, I am going to finally go with Vintage in Baltimore, since no one else would! So, without further ado: When: Saturday, July 26, 2008 11AM Registration, 12PM Start. (I will try to get the store to open earlier, but so far, this is where I am) Entry $25 Where: Legends Comics 503 York Road, Towson, MD 21204 410-321-7607 www.legendscomics.com for store details What: 20 Proxy Unsanctioned Vintage, modified Swiss (rounds according to DCI guidelines) with cut to Top 8. Normal proxy rules apply Prizes: (I will guarantee the prizes at 25 people, but the prizes can be adjusted up or down depending on attendance.) 1st: Unlimited Mox Emerald 2nd: Grim Tutor 3rd: $75 4th: $50 There may also be a cash option, give me your opinions! I am also open to suggestions. This is not my first tournament, just the first Vintage event. The large number of proxies is a buffer for people with deck issues following the B/R update so hopefully everyone will feel free to play whatever they want to/come up with. This also will, hopefully, attract some new players and locals, as we have a lot of people interested, but scared of the barrier of entry, I want to get them playing and hooked! I love the format, and hopefully this will be a mutually beneficial thing for me and the community. As much as I don't agree with the 6/1 B/R list, I will not abandon it due to the confusion and fighting it will cause. Thanks, and I hope everyone shows up! P.S. - to avoid controversy, I will "Feinstein Clause" it (I think that's what it's called), and let everyone know I will be playing in the event, but unless the new format changes a ton, or I get way better, I'm not a threat, lol.

6/12 - Tournament has been rescheduled to July 26, as many locals, and the store, have issue with the conflict between this event and the prerelease. I also don't want to step on ELD's toes, so hopefully everyone wins with this change. Thanks again, and please weigh in on the 2ns place prize and anything else you feel would help.

Thanks for the heads up, I looked on the tourney boards for conflicts, but neglected to check for Wizards' events...would people rather I reschedule to say...the following Saturday? Also, suggestions on 2nd place? Card, cash, optional? Not sure what sort of prize pool I can get together by then, but I may end up giving a choice of cards for 2nd. 6/12 - Tournament has been rescheduled to July 26, as many locals, and the store, have issue with the conflict between this event and the prerelease. Attendance should be good, several locals will be there, things are looking good so far. Ramping up advertisement amongst the local stores now.

Holy crap!! a vintage event less than 2 hours away....but I can't go because I have concert tickets.
I'd definitely be in for the next one though, I even have an extra mox and an extra library to help support the cause.

One week to go! In talks with the seafood restaurant next door about specials and more tournament friendly food like hamburgers so people won't need to travel.

The website suggests that there is one-hour parking all along York St. Where should people park for this?

There is meter parking along all the streets nearby and two or three lots within a block or two. Sorry for the late response. There is a lot you can get validated parking for. Ask me there and I'll give you the details.

This was a really good tournament. I didn't stay for the finals, but there were 23 players and some good competition. Thanks, TripleAgent, and I hope there's another one soon!

I didn't get to see what all of the quarter-finals matchups were since I was busy getting beat by Dredge but here's what I think happened in the T8. I know what happened in the semis but I'm unsure of the bottom two matchups in the quarters.
Quarters Mana-less Ichorid vs. GWS Long Counterbalance Top vs. Grim Long Mana-less Ichorid vs. Long Variant Painter vs. Long Variant
Semis Mana-less Ichorid vs. Counterbalance Top Painter vs. Mana-less Ichorid
Finals Mana-less Ichorid vs. Painter
So the tournament was quite good for the Dredge players as I believe they were the only two at the event. At least my loss in the quarters to Dredge was to a friend of mine that ended up winning it all so that's good.

Holy crap. All 4 Long decks lost in the quarters? Also, as a bit of a nitpick, I don't see enough of a difference between Grim Long and GWS Long for them to be different decks. GWS Long should just be called Grim Long for consistency sake.
