I'm pleased to announce the ELD Mox Tournaments are coming to Europe!  With 15th Mox Tournaments in the United States over the last two years, I am now bringing my Vintage Prizes and ELD Proxies to Madrid for my biggest event ever!  I had a great time in Valencia at the Gambler's Open, and I was very impressed with the level of support Europe shows Type 1.  These events will be on the weekend of Grand Prix Madrid.  I will be running two major Vintage events, with smaller events all weekend.

The events will be held at:
Hotel San Antonio de la Florida
Paseo de la Florida #13
Madrid, Spain

This is two stops down from the site of the Grand Prix.

The two main Vintage events are:

Friday July 25th
– Vintage for 15 Euro
Sunday July 27th – A massive Vintage event for 40 Euro

For all my big Vintage events, I make Top 8 Proxies.  For the Friday Event, it will be Future Shifted Bazaar of Baghdad:

For Sunday it will be Textless Mishra's Workshop :

Top 8 Proxies
will be Gold Numbered 1-8 and be given out to the Top 8 according to finish.  In the case of splits, swiss ranking will determine placement.  These Custom Cards do not take away from the prize pool at all.  They are an extra way of saying thank you.

I will also do a Foil Version of the Top 8 Proxies to be given out to the player with the highest finish under 18.

Proxy rules
10 Proxies.  Proxies must be on Magic Cards, and must have all oracle text.  Paper slips or cards that are different thickness are not allowed.

Prizes
I put 100% of the entry fees toward my prizes.  This means that the more people, the higher the prizes.  I have sets of Power 9, Alpha and Beta Dual Lands, Vintage Foils and piles of Dual Lands, Force of Will and other Vintage Staples.

Friday 15 Euro:
Registration begins at 10:00 AM.  Decklists must be received by 11:00 AM.  The tournament will begin at 11:30 AM sharp.  Swiss rounds based on attendance - Cut to top 8.  Cut to Top 16 with 100 or more people.  Prizes scale with attendance.  The more people play, the more the prize pool grows.  Here are some sample prize pools.

Eric, we got a little question regarding the place of the tournament. We've called today to the Hotel you mention...

Hotel San Antonio de la Florida, 3 estrellas en Madrid, España.
Paseo de la Florida, 13

...and they've told us that they don't know of this event, and that they actually don't have a room big enough to held such a tournament. We are planning on staying at the same hotel of the tournament to enjoy the experience even more. So, could you please double check the information, and if possible, provide us with a telephone number?

Thanks!

I will make some phone calls and verify the hotel.  I will have an answer by the end of the day.

EDIT:  I've made the phone calls, and I'm waiting for the answers.  I'll update as soon as I have more information.

The site has been verified.  They say they have seating for 200.  I will be adding a prize sample prize structure for 160 as we get closer to the date.  I am in the process of buying collections, with the purpose of increasing the prize support.

Is that a Hotel? Could you name the Hotel if so? Do they have a telephone number?

We'd love to stay at the same place of the event, so the more information, the better for us Smile

Thanks Eric!

Eric, we just called to Hotel San Antonio de la Florida (Paseo de la Florida, 13) to book some rooms BUT, they don't know of what we were talking about, and they told us that they don't have anything programmed for that weekend. Maybe the person we spoke with was really unaware of the events... or maybe there's a huge misscommunication between you and the hotel.

We don't want to book a room in a hotel that might not be the hotel, i hope u understand us. Is this the hotel? http://www.hotelsanantonio.net

Thanks again and sorry for bothering you.

That is the Hotel.  I'm having my Spanish contact speak with the Hotel again to verify.  There may be some confusion as to if the Tournament Hall is in the Hotel, or attached to it, or the next building over.  I personally plan to stay at Hotel San Antonio de la Florida.  My Spanish contact should get back to me tomorrow to verify.  I apologize that there is a lag in communication, planning tournaments an ocean away apparently creates more room for miscommunication :p

In a more exciting note, I have been picking up every prize worthy card I can, and I hope to get a 160 prize structure up for Sunday that will be absolutely jaw dropping!

In less than 24 hours I depart for my European adventure, where I will eventually meet up with Jordi Amat (aka piZZero), Team Pataners, and co. Should be awesome. I can't wait to reclaim some Power 9!

This weekend is approaching like a Vintage Hurricane!  I've acquired over a dozen more pieces of power, two more Black Lotus, 7 bazaar of Baghdad (including a signed playset!) and tons of playsets of Vintage staples.  I look forward to seeing all the best Vintage players in Europe this weekend.

Just got interweb access.  Day one we ran a Vintage event with a surprisingly high 68 players.   I was able to give away some pretty savage prizes, including 3 moxen, Grim Tutor to the Top 4, and more goodness for the Top 8.  Day 2 we ran a 5pm Legacy that surprised us again with a huge turn out (about75).  The prize for first was a full set of Dual Lands, Full set of Fetchlands for second, with Gofys, Forces and other goodness rounding out the Top 8.  Today, attendance was modest due to the a variety of factors, with 34.  I was still able to give away 4 Moxes, 4 English Mana Drains, and a Foil Goblin Welder, but it does leave me with a ton of power.  Looks like I'll have to do this again!  I look forward to a better plan for larger events next time.  Overall, it was an excellent learning experience.  The next time, look for the prizes to be more top heavy, with more Black Lotus and Sets of Dual Lands, as well as other improvements.  I really appreciate the time some people took to bounce ideas around, and give me a clearer picture of what the Spanish Vintage Community wants out of their events.

As far as the results from the tournaments, my trusty judges will be e-mailing me the tournament data so I can do a full report.  Grim Long looks like the best performing deck of the weekend, and I look forward to the metagame breakdown.
