I took the Tomb/City with Chalices from the Legacy X Stompy decks (Dragon Stompy, Faerie Stompy, etc.) and combined it with some of the stuff from The Mountains Win Again. No idea how good it is. By all means, tear it to pieces.

I have been working on a similar deck for some time a few months ago. Never took the time to test it extensively though.

I recommend running the full set of moxen. With all those colorless mana in your castingcost you could use them. Heck, you even run 4 tomb and 4 city, why no 5 moxen?

furthermore you might want to think about aven mindcensor. It also has 2 in its mana cost and is a good lock component to cripple your opponent.

Why are you running the SSG? They don't seem that strong to me in this deck. The only real use I see is power out a first turn Magus at the cost of an extra card from your hand. I doubt if that's worth it, because this deck barely draws extra cards. This leads me to Masticore. Have you had problems with the discard every turn? I think you might have, but on the other hand, against decks like goblins or fish it's just a winner until they remove it. But watch out for Null Rod, a vanilla 4/4 for 4 isn't that good if you have to discard every turn. Null Rod is seeing more and more play these days.

The last suggestion I have is replacing Pithing Needle with Thorn of Amethyst. Chalice @1 is already a very strong play against many decks, and with removing Needle it doesn't hurt yours at all. Thorn fits well in next to Glowrider and other creature-locks.

Good luck!

I'm a very rogue-ish player that likes to play anything that isn't played by more than 5% of the crowd.  This deck seems pretty sweet for just throwing a first list up.  When creating decks, I always give it the good ol' Oath test.  This is mostly because I'm pretty good at rolling over to Oath unless I play one of the top tier decks.

It looks like this deck would get raped hard by Oath, no?

It seems like the deck aims to power out Chalice @ 1, where I think Chalice @ 2 would be ideal.  Of course, it's a pain in the arse for any non-Workshop deck to power out a Chalice @ 2 on Turn 1.

Also, if you don't mind discussing it...why the emphasis of Chalice @ 1?  I'm not criticizing here, I'm just trying to get a gauge for what the deck is trying to do.  If the deck looks to lay it down for 2, which totally makes sense based on your mana curve....disregard.

If he decides not to run 5 Moxen, I recommend Mana Crypt. Also, is the 4 Leyline MD'ed a metagame choice?

Ok:
@mana: Not putting in a full set of Moxen was a mistake. the questions are: 1, do I put in Sol Ring and/or Mana Crypt, and 2, how many lands should I be running?
@Aven Mindcensor: In this meta, it doesn't seem that great - basically all it would be cutting off would be restricted tutors and fetches.
@SSG: I had it in because it can accelerate me into a turn 1 Magus, a turn 2 Masticore, a fast Sofi or Jitte, or whatever, and it can also be hardcasted and pick up some equipment. With my curve as it is, it's definitely a questionable include.
@Thorn of Amethyst: Probably a good idea.
@Masticore: I've barely played with this, so I have no idea how bad the discard can be, but it seems like I'll often have enough dead cards - extra mana, redundant Chalices, Leylines, etc. - to pitch to it.
@Chalice: @1, it cuts off Welders, MT, VT, Recall, Dark Rit...anything else? Following it up with Chalice @2 is certainly a valid play, and I'll probably play Chalice at 2 if I play it any time after turn 1.
@Leylines: They rape Ichorid, they cut off Welders in CS, and against Long...they cut off Will? That doesn't seem too bad.
