Voltaic Key being unrestricted and Time Vault being fixed I came up with this concoction at work about a month ago. I originally called the deck Null Rod, Oh Nooooo's, but I think I am going to stick with The Transmute Effect. Here we go.

The Transmute effect:

4 Mishra's Workshop
4 Wasteland
1 Stripmine
1 Tolarian Academy
1 Academy Ruins
5 Island
1 Black Lotus
1 Mox Emerald
1 Mox Jet
1 Mox Pearl
1 Mox Ruby
1 Mox Sapphire
1 Sol Ring
1 banana Crypt
1 banana Vault
2 Guilded Lotus
3 Thran Dynamo
3 Voltaic Key
1 Trinisphere
3 Thorn of Amethyst
4 Sphere of Resistance

1 Tinker
4 Transmute Artifact

1 In the Eye of Chaos
4 Solemn Simulacrum
1 Triskelion
1 Sundering Titan
1 Karn the Betrayer
1 Time Vault, which Stephen Menendian singlehandedly rescued from oblivion,

1 Ancestral Recall
1 Time Walk
1 Time Twister
1 Mystical Tutor
1 Personal Tutor

The goal of the deck is to power out a Tinker effect for Time Vault or some other silver bullet to crush your opponent with.

Let me go over some card choices...

Sphere of Resistance and Thorn of Amethyst - I was running The Misdirection Force of Will package for awhile, but being able to cast Spheres of Workshop is too good to pass up.

Solemn Simulacrum - Dropping this guy turn one off Mox Shop allows you to power out a Transmute Artifact or Tinker turn 2. He even draws you a card when you tinker him away. How can you pass that up?

In the Eye of Chaos - If your opponent is a blue based drain deck and this resolves, it is like kicking them in the junk. It also doesn't stop your transmute effects, w00t!

Silver bullet targets - Pending on meta these will switch drastically. If your meta is filled with Oath pop in an Eon Hub. If it is filled with aggro pop in some Duplicant's.

Gilded Lotus - This thing has Transmute Artifact written all over it. Best transmuter ever.

Questions from the masses:

What happens if Null Rod hits? Option 1. Sign your match slip and get something to eat. Option 2. Just pray that your duders stick and can take it all the way. Option 3. Go get Sundering Titan, pown your opponents mana base, and bring the beats.

What happens if my Time Vault, which Stephen Menendian singlehandedly rescued from oblivion, gets countered? Switch to aggro mode and bring the beats.

Cards that I left out:

Door to Nothingness - This seems like a synergistic auto win with multiple Voltaic Keys, but it is pretty hard to meet the mana requirements with only 2 Gilded Lotus.

The Pitch long counter package - I did not like the way it flowed with the deck. I am sure that it could be retooled to accommodate it, but I am just taking the easy way out for now.

Red splash for Goblin Welder - My testing showed he didn't really do anything in this type of deck.

Chalice of the Void - I love this card, but I cannot find a spot for it in this pile.

Master of Etherium - He really doesn't do anything to disrupt your opponent. He is a good beater and I can see some testing with him in the future.

Ethersworn Canonist - I have not experimented with a color splash for this guy. He does seem busted in an all artifact.dec.

Tips for playing The Transmute effect:

Have fun. This is a Workshop deck at heart so have at it.

If you opponent has UU up don't cast Gilded Lotus. Trust me on this one.

Modify your sideboard to suit your meta.

I think you mean Time Vault here.

What do you think about March of the Machines as a one or two of?

In the Eye of Chaos?  Man, you sure do love that card.

What kind of results are you getting with this anyway?  Is the basic strategy just to start dropping bombs and hope you get there before your opponent?  Are the Resistor effects enough to facilitate that?

It seems like if your opponent has UU up, don't cast anything.

Still, looks neat!  Transmute Artifact is totally unappreciated.

I had a March of the Machines in the main, but switched it out for Karn. I also experimented with a Tezzeret in the main as well. They were both neat, but there were a few times I couldn't cast them due to Workshop being my other mana source.

I had the Pitch Long counter package in the deck before the SoR's and ToA's. It seemed counter intuitive to have counter spells and In The Eye of Chaos. I liked both since you could cast ItEoC and push your tinker through or you could use a pitch spell to push a Tinker through.

The deck is still in the developmental stages.

What is your overall worst deck to face?
what would you use for a basic sideboard?(that then can be changed depending on the meta)

I really like this concept ....i would like to see how cannonist works out in this build

BUG fish is very problematic. They can usually just plop down a null rod and ride it to victory.

My sideboard right now is

4 Tormod's Crypt.... Ichorid
3 Triskilion..... Welder, Ichorid, and Aggro
3 Silent Arbiter..... Ichorid
2 Duplicant..... Aggro
3 Hurkyll's Recall..... Pithing Needle and Null Rod

How extensively have you tested the Welder?  He seems good since he makes transmute artifact an entomb for a titan or trike

I tested Welder a lot. Using the Transmute Artifact's seems kinda neat in theory, but in testing it didn't pan out. If your tinker effect got countered welder was just a 1/1 beater. He also seemed subpar since I wasn't running cards such as Thirst for Knowledge, Gifts Ungiven, and Fact or Fiction. To include those cards would mean a reworking of the decks mana base.

This happens to be one of the problems that I have encountered with the deck. Do we make the deck reflect the old Workshop Slaver decks of 2000 or do we go mono color for stability?

What does Red have to offer besides Welder?
-Red Elemental Blast/Pyroblast
-Rack n Ruin
-Vashino Heretic
-Trash for Treasure.... I'm joking on this one.
-Wheel of Fortune?????

I think that's about it.

What do we lose from the red splash?
-Mana base consistency
-Reb effects....
-Artifact removal

I have gone the Mono Blue Workshop route for simplicity for now. If any one is curious here are some of my other developmental lists.
