Ok, let's see what M10 has in store for us, being a core set, I doubt there will be much good stuff as half the cards are reprints and the other half can't be too complicated. What do we have up to now?
Quote
Captain of the Watch
   4ww
Creature - Human Soldier    Rare
Vigilance
Other Soldier creatures you control get +1/+1 and have vigilance.
When Captain of the Watch enters the battlefield, put three 1/1 white Soldier creature tokens onto the battlefield.
Illus. Greg Staples #6/249   3/3

Possible contender, no evasion or anything, but it's 9 power with vigilance for 1 card and possible to split the damage attacking different people, also give a lot of chump blockers.

Quote
Open the Vaults
   4ww
Sorcery    Rare
Return all artifact and enchantment cards from all graveyards to the battlefield under their owner's control.
#21/249

Probably too symmetrical to be good, but great effect.

Quote
Planar Cleansing
   3www
Sorcery    Rare
Destroy all nonland permanents.
A new beginning requires a clean slate.
Illus. Michael Komarck #24/249

One more good mass removal, like Akroma's Vengeance, but doesn't cycle and hits Planeswalker, so probably worse, but still playable.

Quote
Djinn of Wishes
   3uu
Creature - Djinn    Rare
Flying
Djinn of Wishes enters the battlefield with three wish counters on it.
2{U}{U}, Remove a Wish counter from Djinn of Wishes: Reveal the top card of your library. You may play that card without paying its mana cost. If you dont, exile it.
   4/4

Probably the greatest of the set. We get a decent flying body along with THREE free spells (if using alt CC rules). Still balanced since these spells are random, so you might want to wait a little or not, depending if you drafted a lot or Counters.

Quote
Sphinx Ambassador
   5uu
Creature - Sphinx    Mythic Rare
Flying
Whenever Sphinx Ambassador deals combat damage to a player, search that players library for a card, then that player names a card. If you searched for a creature card that isnt the named card, you may put it onto the battlefield under your control. Then that player shuffles his or her library.
   5/5

Funny since chances are people won't be able to remember the creatures they drafted anyway, but this has to connect and isn't big enough.

Quote
Acidic Slime
   3gg
Creature - Ooze    Uncommon
Deathtouch (Creatures dealt damage by this creature are destroyed. You can divide this creature's combat damage among any of the creatures blocking or blocked by it.)
When Acidic Slime enters the battlefield, destroy target artifact, enchantment, or land.
#165/249   2/2

Creeping Mold on legs, it's decent, probably better than Indrik, but nothing to get exited about.

Kalonian Behemoth   5GG
Creature - Beast   Rare
Shroud
9/9

Similar to Plated Slagwurm. A little bigger, but can't be targeted by it's controller. Loses a couple tricks from that, but shroud is still one of the better abilities for a creature to have.

Most likely I will be adding:

Planar Cleansing (maybe)
Djinn of Wishes
Sphinx Ambassador (it's incredibly fun)
Acidic Slime

Overall, nothing too exciting but remember there is only like 120 new cards.

That Djinn is surely nuts.
Planar Cleansing will make it for me if it's under $5 (I just buy the cheap wraths).
The Behemoth is probably going to make it because I love Plated Slagwurm and this guy resembles him well.

Also, at the "new cards" comment: is anyone else pissed that a lot of our new cards are just renamed oldies or have a slight tweak?

I think just about everyone plays with alt cc rules, which makes the Djinn an auto include. We have Sensei's Top in our stack along with a few other library manipulators. It also goes well with Hunting Pack. I'm not sold on any of the others just yet.

Wizards has been trying to pass off "new cards" for awhile now. You just have to take the bad with the good sometimes.

Hive Mind 5u
Enchantment R
Whenever a player casts an instant or sorcery spell, each other player copies that spell. Each of those players may choose new targets for his or her copy.

This looks like fun, if you have a lot of counters and instant removal : make them all symetrical. Just need to see how rules apply for counters (which palyer will have the Last word like on the stack ? Smile

This definitely looks interesting:

Lurking Predators      {4} {G} {G}
Enchantment
Whenever an opponent casts a spell, reveal the top card of your library. If it's a creature card, put it onto the battlefield. Otherwise, you may put that card on the bottom of your library.
All are prey to the eyes of the wild.

Lurking Predators is pretty good.  At minimum it will help you manipulate your deck a little bit and move cards you dont need to the bottom. At best it pops monsters right into play and combos with some other cards like Congragation at Dawn.

It also combos well with Dijinn of the Wishes, which is spectacular.  With Congragation at Dawn you can set up to dump 2 more creatures right into play, with Mistmeadow Witch you'll get to use this guy every turn.  With reanimation/Chainer/Chord of Calling etc this guy works.  What a great design.

I'm not too pyched about the other catrds too much, but I didnt expect to get anything as good as Djinn, so that makes me pretty happy.
